  1. Hah, yeah, true... I actually haven't heard that particular Shipp release, so I'll have to put it in queue.
  2. A few stragglers if anyone is interested.
  3. Ouch. RIP - and thanks.
  4. Clearly... the thing is they pay people to write for the site, last time I checked...
  5. The worst album ever? If you didn't know any better, you might think so...
  6. Never had any problem with Black Saint LPs or CDs. My copy of Trickles sounds great, and it's a wonderful album.
  7. Never tried that - gave up on getting a non-locked copy of Dave Burrell's La Vie de Boheme on BYG after four copies that stuck.
  8. Joshua Abrams - Natural Information - (Eremite)
  9. Allen, who is Cecil Young's son? T Ho B is a fantastic musician, indeed.
  10. Thanks, Matt - considering the breadth of your knowledge, that is quite a compliment.
  11. Yes, I wondered that too. Listening to Peace and Blessings which has just arrived on the back of people's recommendations here - Longineu Parsons immediately stands out - someone I've not come across before. Enjoying this disc, so thanks to those who mentioned it There was a fine Parsons compilation issued a few years back... SPACED on Ubiquity. http://www.ubiquityrecords.com/artists/LONGINEU-PARSONS.html Yeah, that was nice - I remember having it at the radio station I worked at in KS.
  12. I'm curious to hear Cooper-Moore play the organ, though I don't doubt his conception is quite far from where a greazy modern-jazz organ player would take it. C-M is a pianist who also builds instruments of his own design, as well as playing flute. Check out his Cedar Box Recordings solo disc on Aum/50 Miles of Elbow Room if you get a chance. C-M was like a surrogate father to me while I lived in NY briefly. He is a kind man.
  13. Curious if you know this from lp or cd. Thanks. Even more curious about folks listening to "Forces and Feelings". Mine are on LP - what should I know about the CDs? Agreed.
  14. I don't, but when I do, I will (unless you want to give it away here).
  15. Nah, that's Circulus, which includes Vitous/Haynes stuff as well as chamber trio work w/ clarinet and cello (Braxton/Holland). Like that one a little better than Circling In.
  16. Nice - I'd like to hear those Encore tracks. Mirrors is a sweet record; I have it on a UK Freedom LP. At Her Majesty's Pleasure is the first CBBB record I heard, too, and a fine one indeed.
  17. Yup. Destination Out has a nice Noah Howard post up right now. Still need to get that Live at the Swing Club LP.
  18. I used to have the LPs (my 70s two-fer pressing was kind of noisy). I remember it being decent but, compared to the CBS and ECM sessions, not quite "there." But "Drone" is a very nice trio piece - that has been reissued somewhere, if I'm not mistaken.
  19. Yeah, that Honest Jon's set is real nice. Made me appreciate him a hell of a lot more.
  20. Can't wait. PM sent.
  21. I would think that the only one of the Dixons that would need remastering would be Thoughts. Cranked to 2 o'clock on my amp it sounds great, but it's recorded at what seems like a pretty low dynamic level considering what I know to be the dynamics of the music. If memory serves, Bill wasn't too happy with how it came out, but he liked to have his stereo at full volume anyway :-) Also, the liner notes to these releases should be made available somewhere, as they are certainly part of the package (not to mention the beautiful covers).
  22. It's funny how when this thread started I wasn't too into this session, but now I'm quite into it. How years (and the o-board) change things.
  23. Huh. Frankly I'm more irritated about the Bitches Brew beer not being available in Texas.
