Understood. I do want to chime in and say that abuse does not have to be a precursor to working in the sex industry. And that, according to Ms. Grey, the Tyra interview was pretty well-staged by the producers, so that very little of what she actually had to say was aired. So I take the woman for her word - call me a sucka.

Yeah, I did some research including reading & listening to some interviews. Certainly in control of her business - no doubt that she's doing what she wants, how she wants. I'm sure there's more hardcore stuff out there, but I can't imagine what it is.

I'm sure you are right about that re: the industry. Not being a connoisseur of pornography, only a casual and occasional observer, I expected it to be serious business - I mean, I know what "hardcore porn" is. But this took it to another level for me. The gagging/barfing noises didn't help.

I googled Sasha Grey to get a clearer picture of what the deal was. I'd only heard of her/seen photos. I have to say, watching 9 minutes of hardcore Sasha (over lunch and at home) was actually physically nauseating. And I consider myself both a sexual "liberal" and one who is supportive of personal rights, both in the viewing and making of pornography. So, I'm glad for her that she's able to do well financially and creatively with it, and yea she is very cute & looks like a normal girl. But that type of thing is too relentless/intense even for me.

I was planning on seeing that but got busy and skipped out on movies in June. Now it's gone from Austin theaters.

Sasha Grey. Indeed. She's got a noise-music LP coming out, I think, also.

Hey, I haven't seen Play Misty for Me either. Every Which Way But Loose, now THERE'S a film. But hey, I like Paul Flaherty, so count me ignorant too.

$5 can't be beat.

I only have Awakening but I like it quite a bit. The format-hound in me has been looking for Conflict and the Joe Gordon for some time on LP, with no dice. The realist in me is calling the format-hound an idiot.

Oooh I don't have that Bevan disc... another one to look for.

Band and "o" logo works for me. Most of my t-shirts are black but the ones I really like are brown, green, purple... got a nice faded Sun Ra one in brown and black. Anyway.

I still think they had a pretty good band name.

The one with Geri Allen is the better of the two. It's really strong. I have long been a Schweizer nut, but for me Berne Concert doesn't gel. That said, there are some beautiful duets with her and Cyrille, and her and Workman, on the record. Better put:

As in "X is an asshat, couldn't even git a gig at Zebulon, if y'all knaw mean."

Again, that Ra cover just HAS to be heard...
