  1. Great one, Chuck! Still have my eyes out for a copy of Nature's Consort... Now: Gary Burton - Duster - (RCA Victor stereo orig)
  2. Robbie Basho - Venus in Cancer - (Blue Thumb orig, wlp)
  3. I'd buy this. Never did get Mouth Eating Trees though I've heard it and it is good!
  4. Jeezus, Bright Moments... Jeezus.
  5. This is pretty lame and hopefully they will correct it. I have a Liberty LP but it would be nice, if I were to buy a domestic CD of the music, for it not to be jacked.
  6. Great material, but I'm wondering how "gray" this label is.
  7. Happy Birthday, belatedly. Hope you can bring some Cookers and such down to Austin someday.
  8. RIP. That Afro Jazz LP always got under my skin...
  9. Huh? Oh. . . there was a full blown box set of the material, out of print for some time. But not a Select. Right? Right. Sorry, must've had some of what Michael Phelps had...
  10. Yeah, I often forget how bad NYC USPS service is/was. Kind of a big hassle to send one disc to Canada. Yeah, maybe there was an oversight by not mentioning int'l shipping for small orders. But Peter, posting others' PMs and emails on the site for the sake of an argument - as you did with respect to the Jazzloft thread - isn't all that hip, sorry to say.
  11. Jaki Byard - Live vol. 1 - (Prestige, green label) w/ Farrell, Dawson, Tucker at Lennie's... classic stuff.
  12. Elvin Jones - Mr. Jones - (Blue Note UA pressing)
  13. Yeah, I'd like to sleeve a few of my boxes. For example, the thin cardboard that holds my FMP For Example box is getting fairly rubbed...
  14. There was a Mosaic Select of the Elvin material, but it's OOP.
  15. I confess to not knowing she was still around. RIP. Clearly she gave a lot to her fans.
  16. Alexander von Schlippenbach - Solo Piano - (FMP)
  17. Joe McPhee - Variations on a Blue Line/Round Midnight - (Hat Hut)
  18. Electronic composer/sound artist and avant-garde percussionist Max Neuhaus died on February 3rd of cancer; he was 69. I had the pleasure of experiencing one of his installations in Houston at the Menil Collection over the summer as well as seeing some of his wonderful graphic scores and sonic architecture blueprints. From Rockwell Matters Joe Milazzo weighs in here RIP and thank you, Max, for helping us to experience the world a bit differently.
  19. I've got a spare set of labels - no spindle hole - for the first Giuseppi Logan on ESP. Anybody know a good site that will show one how to make a coaster?
  20. Sorry to hijack, but I weighed in a bit here. I think anybody interested - I mean really interested - in this music (not necessarily in Braxton) would do well to purchase this set. I am a fan of both but I don't think one has to be to enjoy it.
  21. Ten big ones (quoth Chewy) gets the last of it.
  22. Didn't Al Hood have a record cut on the West Coast on maybe Au Roar or something? Kinda "free?"
  23. RIP. I know what I'll be spinning when I get home. Talk about an underrated player.
  24. Oh yes! How could I space on her? Lee is a very diverse singer - able to sing or recite lines "straight" yet with an ineffable sense of depth. And her production of free, non-lyric sounds is unparalleled. I particularly like her work with Gunter Hampel. Still, my desert island vocal disc would be Patty Waters' You Thrill Me (Water).
  25. Find the singers who most fit with the instrumental sounds/approaches you like. The vocalists who, for me, have made the most impact are those who treat their voice as a conduit for deep personal feelings and not just singing the lyrics pat. Some whom I like in particular: Patty Waters, Sheila Jordan, Annie Ross. YMMV.
