  1. I tend to agree with Dan's point as well. The dude should have called the authorities - taking a Charles Bronson vigilante stance is stupid, and shooting a cat in a public place like that is dangerous. What if a homeless person also happened to be sleeping under the bridge when he tried to shoot the cat? Besides, how does he know that THAT particular cat was the guilty one? Was he witnessing it eat one of his beloved shore birds when he shot it? Or was it simply the first wild cat that he found in the area? I think this guy was an asshole with at least one screw loose, and his behaviour disgusts me. He deserves at least a good ass-kicking.
  2. Isn't that what RVG is all about?
  3. That track is also on the Archie Shepp album Massy U-Jamaa Unite, same band, on Uniteledis Records from 1975. I believe it is a significantly longer take.
  4. for most "out" inside joke I've seen today.
  5. That you needed to buy two really wonderful records?
  6. Really like the Coltrane interview on LP 3 of Second Night in Tokyo.
  7. I think I'll be seeing it in Austin next Monday. Looking forward.
  8. Shellac of North America - Terraform - (Touch & Go) please pardon my Steve Albini kick of late - great to pull some of these out again.
  9. But the Coltrane in Japan sets aren't really fiercely "out" compared to things like the Olatunji concert, his duos with Rashied, or some of the transitional '65 recordings.
  10. I have some Kabelac on a Percussions de Strasbourg LP but that's it. Will have to look for that piece.
  11. I'm rarely bored these days - school, work, ladyfriend, etc. But onanism still has its place, as does the forum!
  12. You know, I just don't know what to say sometimes...
  13. Giacinto Scelsi Vinko Globokar Mauricio Kagel
  14. I couldn't pick just one Jackie Mc album. Never heard one I didn't absolutely love!
  15. Muhammad Ali is the brother of drummer Rashied Ali (who worked with Coltrane, Marion Brown, and others). I don't hear a lot of Blackwell in his playing myself - more Elvin-like - but he's a hell of a player. Dig his work with Frank Wright and Alan Silva in the Center of the World Quartet, it's stunning!
  16. Big Black - Headache - (Touch & Go, 2nd issue)
  17. Rapeman - Budd EP - (Touch & Go)
  18. Worth listening to all of it. That's right, ALL of it.
  19. There was a really cool exhibition of artefacts from his archives at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center last year in Austin. I wish I had the chance to see him speak then. RIP Mr. Mailer.
  20. OK Mario, scoring isn't that hard... For me, that is the measure of success. If it turns into a relationship - a good one - then that's great. But if that's what you're out for on a first date, well, you're aiming too high.
  21. Don't care for the Coens but Cormac McCarthy gets me going. I'll be seeing this.
  22. This Glenlivet is doing me right, but it's making it hard to remember things. I have the Edition RZ LP with "A Carlo Scarpa" (think it's contrabass clarinet and electronics??), very nice work. Also a little of his earlier stuff on a Time LP. A good friend of mine is a Nono freak, though I think I've tried to turn him onto more jazz than he has with expanding my Nono vocabulary. When I return home this weekend, I'll refresh my memory on some deep pieces by this heavy composer.
