  1. Thanks, Tom. I wonder why I didn't get the same e-mail...
  2. I loaded up my wishlist, but where is the promotion?
  3. I bought caramel-filled Kisses in the past summer, but couldn't finish the whole bag. They were too sweet for me. They were sitting in my fridge for a long time, so I finally threw them away.
  4. Alexander and Mabern are also playing in Columbia, Missouri at the end of January. I am thinking about going there to see their show. It should be a very good one.
  5. I have old U.S. reissue of "Don't mess with Mr. T". I agree with Robert. It is a great session.
  6. Thank you, Tom!!!

  8. How about mashed potato-flavored green tea? Very funny, Joe G. I would stick with plain green tea.
  9. I saw Regis Philbin and Kelly Rippa drink that stuff in their morning show last week or so. I can't imagine anyone would buy that kind of stuff....
  10. "CY-18059" Chuck mentioned is the catalog number for the CD release. The LP re-production has "SAVOY MG-12171" on the front cover.
  11. I have a mini-LP reissue of "Midnight Session" from mid-90's. I think this Savoy series may have been one of the very first mini-LPs. The CD has 6 songs: Casino 5:00 The "Biddie Griddies" 5:59 Potpourri 4:23 Ugh! 5:35 Mirage 4:43 Reflections of Buhainia 10:59 (misspelling? on the mini-LP reissue and probably on the original Savoy LP)
  12. That's sad news. Streetside Records was my favorite store when I lived in Columbia, and I often stop by their stores whenever I visit St. Louis. Do they still have 20 or 25% off used CDs on Saturdays?
  13. I didn't know Euclid Records moved to a new location until I saw your post. The store looks nice on their webiste. I should stop by when I visit Columbia (Missouri, that is) next time.
  14. I am drinking tea for the flavor, not for the benefits. Well, it's healthier to drink tea than soda. As a Japanese, I grow up drinking tea since I was very very young. So, you could say I am also drinking out of habit like WD45.
  15. Too much... I cut down on watching football games, but watching something else, instead. So, I am still watching too much TV.
  16. I am glad to see many tea (green tea) drinkers on the board. I probably drink too much green tea, but I can't help it. Ten Ren is a really good place to buy Chinese tea. Every time I go to big cities with Chinatown, I stop by at Ten Ren stores for some Chinese tea. Since Jasmine tea is a a Chinese tea, you can get a very good one there. But if you like authentic Japanese tea like sen-cha or genmai-cha, your best bet is to find a local Japanese grocery stores. I am sure there are quite a few in S.F. Green tea at Ten Ren (or other Chinese green tea) is not same as Japanese green tea.
  17. I will be flying in to Toronoto next Tuesday. Let me know if there are any new jazz concerts or events.
  18. It's not that hard to find his grave. I have been there. He is buried there for a reason (I think he is buried next to his mother?), so I am not very supportive of the move.
  19. I was around when 'Saxophone Colossus' was released and - along with a lot of people - was taken over by the sheer brillance. Same thing with John Coltrane's first albums. And then when Albert Ayler's 'Spiritual Unity' exploded. Is there any album by one of the current saxophonists that hit you in the face the same way those did in their time? I have not but would love to hear one. james carter - chasin the gypsy. WOW! B-) "Chasin' the Gipsy" is one of the best recordings I have heard in last two or three years. This CD was my introduction to his music, and I was just blown away when I heard that CD. His performance was amazing when I saw him over the Labor Day weekend.
  20. I forgot about David Sanchez. I really love his music, too. I would say he is my second choice. jazzmessenger, did you know that Sanchez is coming here to Bloomington on Oct. 21? He'll be playing at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater downtown. More information here. Yeah, I heard that somewhere-probably jfb e-mail. Since it's Thursday, I am not sure if I can make it. I saw him last year at the Jazz Kitchen. His performance was great!
  21. I don't have many CDs with this song, but I really like Roland Kirk's live version on "Bright Moments".
  22. Bobby Watson is also my favorite. But if it has to be under 50, I would go with Kenny Garrett.
  23. I forgot about David Sanchez. I really love his music, too. I would say he is my second choice.
  24. Although James Carter plays all kinds of instruments, I'd say my favorite tenor player today is J.C.
  25. I saw this movie on TV last year and got the DVD right after I got a DVD player last Christmas. Great movie
