  1. Definitely of interest - when I read it was by ‘Real Gone Music’ I was thinking that it was by the other lot.
  2. Welcome, Mark. Interesting - and I would say that Don Thompson judged it just right.
  3. I visited the Lighthouse on a number of occasions in the late 1990s. A most interesting experience ! Although the layout had changed since its heyday, there was a big old wooden band stage - I recognised its somewhat boomy characteristics from recordings such as this one. Jazz archaeology !
  4. Fontana, stereo. No ‘Bitches’ here !
  5. Always found the sound of that LP a bit on the thin side - it was issued here in the UK by Pye. A welcome return to recording by Blakey though, back in the day.
  6. Thanks for that - I didn’t see the Marc Myers link and really wanted to see this documentary. To me she looked extremely Scottish - even more so as she got older. Plus the red hair. Technically English by birth though, born in Surrey !
  7. If the Hoffman Board rumour is correct, there will be a 3LP Tone Poet issue for this one forthcoming. Presumably without alternates?
  8. I have a Liberty ‘Speak Like a Child’ in that format and I have seen a (beat up) Lonnie Smith ‘Think’ that had it. I might have more - will have to check. Thinking about it, I also have ‘Caramba’, Charisma’, ‘..Funky’ and ‘Grass Roots’ with the unipak. A&M Horizon, of course, were the gods of unipak.
  9. Vocalion. RIP Annie Ross.
  10. Have a vinyl copy of that one - will have to dig it out.
  11. Her (Scottish) brother Jimmy Logan used to be frequently seen on TV and films too. A talented clan.
  12. Very sad news. She was last resident here in the 60s I think and ran the club ‘Annie’s Room’. RIP. Remember seeing her in at least one 80s movie - a horror film, I think. Extremely versatile !
  13. Subterfuge in the original liner notes - recorded as per Tempo sessions so presumably at Decca West Hampstead.
  14. More Jack Wilson - Liberty, stereo
  15. Indeed - recorded as well as the Desmond Mosaic and the music quality is comparable. A gem !
