  1. John Major Major Ron Major Domo
  2. Presumably 'Pirates of Penzance' is outlawed?..
  3. Chewy - It is included in the Duke 'Mosaic Select'. Don't think it appeared in the 'rare groove' series. I have a Japanese King pressing of this one and it sounds predictably excellent.
  4. Happy Pappy Birthday !
  5. Isadora Duncan Duncan Goodhew Telly Savalas
  6. Harold Wilson Lord Kagan Columbo
  7. I picked up a couple of Reel releases today - 'Splinters' (the one with Tubby Hayes) and the Dreamtime 'Double Trouble' with Nick Evans, Paul Rutherford and Jim Dvorak. Should be an interesting weekend's listen.
  8. No pigs flying outside Battersea Power Station when I went past it on the train this morning..
  9. Nice one ! Great set at a great price.
  10. Probably about 90% via the traditional hi-fi route and 10% through spotify or on the I-Pod.
  11. I remember that place less than 10 years ago being 'stacked to the gunnells' with jazz. Including several copies of that behemoth 'Jazz In Paris' box. I bought much of the 'Free America' series from there. Sad to hear..
  12. Not sure of the original quantities but it must have been only in the hundreds, certainly no more than the low thousands. 'Shades' in particular is very scarce in good condition. I remember reading about the Michael Garrick Argos that his biggest seller ('The Heart Is A Lotus') was only about 1000 copies. Alan Skidmore 'Once Upon A Time' (Deram Nova, stereo)
  13. Is that him on trombone? (same row at the back with Jeff Lynn and the guy from ZZ Top)
  14. Happy Birthday !
  15. 'Shades of Blue', 'Dusk Fire' and the Mike Taylors are probably the only ones I would group in this category on vinyl. Very special recordings - to me at least.
  16. Lea Delaria Janette Mason James Mason
  17. Jackie McLean 'Right Now' (BN NY USA mono)
  18. SS1 - you forgot the big tumbler of vintage single malt scotch !
  19. Especially as it was 'on offer' over the past week. One of life's unfathomable mysteries...
  20. Continuing with Rendell/Carr Quintet - 'Dusk Fire' (UK Columbia, mono) Lou Donaldson 'Blues Walk' (BN 47W63rd DG mono)
  21. Blimey - never even heard of that 'Garuda' LP. I always thought it was just a dodgy Indonesian airline ! Have not heard the Clem Alford Lps either ('Electronic Sitar Of..', 'Mirror Image') and I guess Bass player Toni Campo is the other connection to the 'Magic Eye' LP. Will look out for them.. 'Shades of Blue' - Highly recommended. Sell the furniture and live on bread and jam to get hold of a copy (but maybe not sell the wife and kids ).
  22. The 'Cosmic Eye' is a sort of dreamy prog-jazz album, very British I guess and very much of its early-70s time - I'm a big fan of John Mayer and Amancio D'Silva collaborations and Lansdowne Series in general though so wouldn't want to do without it. Never been out on an official CD release either - not sure if there is a problem with tape availability. In a way, it is not so much an Amancio D'Silva album - more a John Mayer album. Conceptual similarities with his 'Rahda Krishna'.
  23. Amancio D'Silva et al - 'Cosmic Eye Dream Sequence' (Regal Zonophone)
