  3. Prince Harry Flash Harry Harry Barris
  4. I had that record back in my LP days, but I don't remember if it was any good. I've got the LP on the UK 'Charlie Parker Records' label. Budget label Egmont - I think it was - who issued it (located 'Up North' back in the day).
  5. That one will be going on deck today. Great album !

I've never heard 'Movement' (and the only LPs of it I've seen were less than pristine copies in mono going for the best part of £1k !) Not heard 'High Spirits' either - in fact never, ever seen a copy of it. My CD (and the McNair) is on order from the boys at HMV. Both of these are important releases. My guess is that they have access to the material held by Universal - which ponders the question, why no Neil Ardley 'Dejeuner', Phil Seamen 'Live', Colin Bates 'Brew' etc?
  10. I gave both CDs of this set a spin a couple of days ago. Hugely enjoyable, for the playing of both McLean and Redd.
  11. I believe it was one of the Columbia Landsowne LPs when issued in the UK; Serenus is mostly a classical label, I think. Looks like sealed copies pop up on eBay fairly frequently for not too much bread. Yes, a Dennis Preston production - it came out in the UK on Columbia in the Lansdowne Series - I have a copy of it. The US issue on Serenus seems to be much more widespread than the UK issue. Musically, the session is a mixed bag but it's certainly unique and Shake Keane is typically good on it. The Max Harrison essay referred to here is very interesting read - and the Lp also appears in his 'Modern Jazz - The Essential Records' book. Liberty blue/white issue?
  12. Wayne Shorter 'Night Dreamer' (BN NY USA mono)
  13. 'Azimuth' (ECM) - Their first LP Wynton Kelly 'Kelly Blue' (Riverside black/silver - DG stereo)
  14. Lacy Gibson Batman Boy Blunder
  15. Last time I saw Coles play (with 'Mingus Dynasty' at Ronnie Scotts) I'm sure he was wearing that very same cap and jacket. Brings back the memories ! I have that LP too and will dig it out (ie. first see if I can find it. )
  16. Looks like a great, indeed memorable, lineup. Too bad it is to be held mid-week though.
  17. Max Roach 'Drums Unlimited' (Atlantic red/purple mono)
  18. Pete Laroca 'Basra' (BN Conn). Good sounding pressing.

  24. That's true. I've lived in places that were parched and anything but green. We should give thanks for our weather - it makes the place what it is !
  25. There's probably 'Wally' in the runout on the Conn. Updated - Just checked my Conn pressing and there is. It should be 'Mastered by Capitol....Wally' in the runout.
