  1. At least Viz is still going strong..
  2. Saw him a couple of times at Ronnie Scotts, along with Danny Richmond. One was with Mingus Dynasty, the second time was the Adams/Pullen group (around the time that 'Don't Lose Control' LP came out).
  3. Wow. That's good to know. Thanks for the tip. That looks interesting. Thanks. MG I have one of those too. Works fine.
  4. Didn't 'Look and Learn' also run the Dan Dare comic strip after the Eagle had stopped? Still have several Eagle Annuals, bought second hand. As collectable as Mosaics now ! Sixties into the seventies for me. At the time I thought 'TV21' would be the way we would all live around year 2000 and was looking forward to getting my jet back-pack and wearing Baco Foil suits. That one looks pretty naff. Up there with the Andy Pandy Annual.

  7. Re: the Security - the Army did a fantastic job. I went through their checks - efficient, courteous and competent. Very professional as per usual ! Much of the thrill in the Stadium was the massive noise from the crowd (never witnessed anything like it in terms of intensity) and the excitement and flag-waving from many nations. It was a show in itself.
  8. Wow - that brought back the memories. 'Look and Learn' was my usual Saturday essential purchase - along with a Whizzer & Chips chaser. Used to enjoy the TV21 Xmas Annuals !
  9. Les Jazz Modes/Gene Quill 'Jazzville 56' (Dawn, DG mono) Not a bad £6 worth !

That would be 'Big Ben's Banjo Band' from the Wheeltappers & Shunters Social Club. Don't know if Vocalion 'do' them. Take away the shag pile and add a record deck and it could pass as my lounge too
  11. '76 also - new though (cutout). Knew nothing about Von but thought the cover looked cool and as RRK produced it, it must be good. Bought in WH Smiths, would you believe - £1.99 !
  12. I have a Coleman Hawkins 10" signed for producer Ray Horricks in Paris by Hawk, Jimmy Jones and Roy Haynes.

The Grey £. Re-living the 1960s and 70s - all across the South Coast from Bognor to Sidmouth !
  14. Sounds crazy I know - but it really does make a difference with the LP12 Linn standard mat (which is still the best for this turntable IMO). Once you determine the 'correct' side it is worth making a small chalk mark as a reminder of which side is the correct one.

My order for 'Manuel & His Music of the Mountains' has just gone in !
  16. Sad news to start the day to. First heard him around '76 when I bought the Atlantic LP as a cutout. His sound was truly unique and endearingly off-centre - RIP.

  18. I think the original Mole building and sign are still there. Well over 20 years since it was vacated ! Seems to have survived the St Pancras demolition blitz. Worth taking a glimpse if you happen to pass King's Cross.

Falls off of chair... My guess was right ! 'Movement' for sure was only issued on LP in mono and is mythical in any condition so this is a holy grail recovery. Agreed - a no-brainer. Will certainly pick up the 'Flute & Nut' too. Don't have that particular one on LP, it was originally released on RCA - as was 'Harold McNair'. The latter is pretty damn nice (came out twice on LP, the latter issue on B&G).
  20. I'm still using my original Zerostat, purchased back in 1979 Seems to work fine. With the LP12 I use Linn's bog-standard mat, never seem to have too much of a static problem. You need to put it the right way up though (matted weft), otherwise a bit of harshness of sound creeps in !
  21. Steps 'Smokin' In The Pit' (Nippon Columbia 2LP)
  22. Well, I for one will miss the Olympics. Still trying to recover from Thursday night - witnessing it in person puts a whole new perspective on the track and field events.
  23. Paz 'Live In Chichester' (Magnus) Signed by all the band on the back !
  24. Linda Sharrock Linda Lovelace Ada Countess of Lovelace
