An old theory - I remember reading about it in a Yearbook from 1953, along with a couple of other suspects (Duke of Clarence etc.). Total red herrings I suspect. That US writer Patricia Cornwell was apparently convinced but I believe her rationale was totally taken apart.

I did a 250 mile drive South from Lancashire today down the M6 and couldn't believe the number of storm transitions I went through. For some reason, Stoke and thereabouts was the epicentre of the worst of it. Grim !
