  7. As soon as I got to the bit about jazz and 'management of Stakeholders' I switched off.. Many of our businesses could do with a huge injection of creativity though - and a cutting of bureaucratic red tape.

  12. Inspired by the Gerald thread (God bless him !) Gerald Wilson Orchestra of the 80s 'Jessica' (Discovery/Trend)
  13. I wish I had - only some excerpts so far, which were pretty good. Would be a great choice for a Mosaic Select. Yes, they really are excellent. IMO they're better than his recent ones on Mack Avenue but then, even slightly-lesser Gerald Wilson's are worth hearing. BTW quite a few of his Discovery albums are available on Amazon at quite reasonable prices The Discovery LPs are great - I have all of them, I think. 'Lomelin' is particularly good. The only negative is the tinkly electric piano, which sounds a bit dated in an 80s way on some of the material. At this time Gerald still had real A-team soloists on board too (Ernie Watts, Harold Land, Oscar Brashear etc.) Just listening to this one at the moment - recommended !

  16. That would be worth the price of admission as I've yet to hear Wayne speak after seeing him several times.
  17. That would possibly be the thermistor failing ! Happened to me last year - and it was a good German unit (Miele) too. Thermistor changeout sorted it out.

  20. Thanks for that - good point. I'll check what they are proposing.
  21. I hear you ! Mine packed in just before Xmas so I am using backup electric heating. The 'fix' will involve re-routing the gas supply to the upper part of the house (as the old boiler location is no longer legal under building regs thanks to EU changes ) , a new boiler in the loft with new flue outlet install, power-flush of all the radiators and new water cylinder. About 3x your bill, all in, to fix (inc. VAT at 20%). The only saving grace is that at 22 years old, the boiler was due for a changeout. No more Mosaics for me until the next decade.
  22. Never did have a decent one of those in North America. The nearest 'approximation' was in Santa Monica and that was de-tuned/laced with orange for the local palate. They didn't get the spices and herbs right either (although there was enough to feed 10 ). The music on that Tubby 3CD set is great but the sound to me is sort of flat/2-dimensional. A shortcoming that I have found with many of these recent reissues. The Tempo master tapes are long gone - best sound to date has been achieved on the Sawano vinyl reissues (which must themselves be needle-drops). The sound on 'Dancing In The Dark' is fine - better than one could hope for considering it was recorded by that Nottingham club ('Foo' Kinnell arranged it I think).
