  1. I have to admit that the Paul Dunmall/Mujician bagpipe track makes a lot more sense to me now, in terms of listenability, than when I saw them in action doing this stuff at the Bath Fest. I was sat right at the front for that one too. Time to get in the Tardis?
  2. We are having our own version of 'Greek economics' here too. I'll have to ring-fence my Mosaic account from useless Gordon Brown.
  3. Great show - downloaded the podcast but will have to record the whole thing. Keith Tippett makes an excellent, informative interviewee. Some fine music on there - the opening track from 'Dedicated To You But You Weren't Listening' is stunning, as is the vocal track from 'Blueprint'. Must pick up the CD of the Vertigo forthwith - and the BGO reissue of 'Blueprint'.
  4. The Thad & Mel vinyl Mosaic set sounds better - sans reverb !
  5. Graet set, for anyone who needs it. Not least for the great 'Understanding' session.
  6. Well, that's a relief. Instead of Greggs we'll have a nice Laura Ashley tea shoppe. With an attached plant shoppe !
  7. Yeah, Greggs baker shops (lots of cheap stodge). Springing up everywhere - typical recession trend. Latest news this morning is that the National Trust are looking into buying Abbey Wood Studios for the Nation. As an NT fee paying member this gets my unqualified and sits well with their other music portfolio items including Lennon's childhood home. That Guy Hands assset-stripping idiot. Hope he completely loses his shirt.
  8. More sad news, RIP. This year is starting off real bad for jazz-related deaths. Would like to check out his work for MPS on the 5CD set.
  9. Yes - there were tantalising glimpses in the footage of at least one "Jazz 625" with the full big band and the likes of Kenny Wheeler, Eddie Harvey and Alfie Reese in the lineup, by the looks of it. They need to broadcast that one in full ! There were also excerpts from the Dankworth small group broadcast with Cleo Laine which I think was last broadcast around the time of 'Jazz Britannia'.
  10. Grant Green 'Idle Moments' (BN NY USA, stereo)
  11. Or a Greggs...
  12. UK United Artists LP issue also has that design.
  13. They'll be selling off The Queen next !
  14. No wonder my company wants to give me a medical check before I head out there..
  15. Great find - congrats !
  16. Those NY USAs must have been nuclear hardened. Even beat up copies can sound great, as you say.
  17. Sat right behind him at the Henry Grimes Cheltenham gig last year (he was doing the intros). Will be tuning in to the show tonight, all being well.
  18. Over the years I've been away from North America I've always missed the steak and lobster blowouts (separate, not combined) so these are prime candidate options. Looking at the likely itinery though I'll be lucky to squeeze in a trip to McD's One thing's for sure - I'll try to squeeze in a trip to a CD shop.
  19. If the Tories get in and he takes over from 'Bullingdon Boy' Osborne, we could end up having tax breaks for Mosaic purchases !
  20. Sticks Brains Doughnut
  21. That would be good. I notice that Mike and Kate have a duo gig coming up soon in London. They have also been featuring their 'Village Band' project a lot down in their local neck-of-the-woods in Devon. An extremely nice couple, in person.
  22. Can't believe that no-one's jumped yet on the Grant Green Mosaic !
  23. Great idea but I suspect that Bath may be constrained by current economic considerations. At least they could get him back in the Guildhall with his assorted bricks and wind chimes !
  24. but isn't Canyon Lady in the second half? I also like the album with Alice Coltrane a lot... these might be my favorite albums besides Power to the People, Tetragon and In Japan Disk 6 of the Joe Handerson Box on at this very moment. Will follow up with disks 7 and 8. Count me in as a definite fan of 'Canyon Lady'.
  25. Thanks - I've not seen that thread before.
