  3. 1978 in my case - cutout ! Still enjoy hearing that one. Spinning Jimmy Ponder 'Jump' (Muse). Big John Patton on organ, recorded by RVG. Glad you enjoy it. I think Tony Coe's playing on that session is magnificent. Recommend the album with Getz, 'Changes of Scene', if you can find it. A bit scarce on Verve vinyl I think (mine's a UK issue).
  4. Had a very rough bout of severe cold some weeks ago - rough head and chest for weeks. In the end it took strong antibiotics to help clear it, otherwise I could have ended up with pneumonia. Unbelievably runny eyes, nose and bunged up lungs - and fatigue for days. I know it wasn't 'flu because my appetite went up if anything and I take an annual shot. Nasty stuff - get well soon.

  7. And maybe Teo remembered this and suggested it as a title to Miles? Just picked up 'The Riddle' on vinyl myself. This one is a UK Fontana pressing. I'm a sucker for anything that was recorded at 30th St studio.

  9. Kenny Clarke? This is sad news. I don't have too much by her but I really enjoy the tracks she's on in the Kenton/Holman/Russo Mosaic. Way too many of the classic jazz artists from the 50s and 60s have passed away of late - RIP.

  14. No problem ! Another listen to this show has me reaching for my 'On The Corner' box set. I think this show was put out to mark the 40th Anniversary of the 'IASW' sessions. Astonishing that it is now 40 years ago. Unusual to see Craig Charles doing this sort of show (usually on TV on 'Red Dwarf' and 'Corrie') but he seems enthusiastic about the music. And that bit by Airto about the pilot on the Air India plane to the IOW Fest being offered LSD (not true fortunately) is pretty funny !

Caught him once at the Pizza Express, London with 'Earthworks' - great evening !
  16. Don't think so. Maybe they are just 'discovering' Miles !
  17. No John - completely missed that one. Good to hear 'Agharta' and 'Dark Magus' on Radio 2 at last . Back in the day when it still still reeked' of the 'light programme', that would never have happened in a million years. Heck, the only station I ever heard 'Agharta' on at time of its original release was a French station I somehow picked up on medium wave through the earpiece of my transistor radio one night (and not only that, they played the whole of one side). Fading in and out like an illicit transmission from another planet !

  20. Available for a couple of days via I-Player for anyone who can access it. Miles Plugs In No great new revelations but new interviews by the sound of it with Wayne Shorter, Airto, John McLaughlin, Dave Holland, Paul Buckmaster, Badal Roy and Dave Liebman, amongst others. Covers the period 'In A Silent Way' via 'On The Corner' to the 1975 recordings. Well worth a listen !

  22. Have now bought the Burrell and the 'Emergency'. Just missing the 3 AECs, the Shepp and the Steve Lacy 'Gap'.
  23. 'Gil Fuller and the Monterey Jazz Festival Orchestra' (Pacific Jazz, stereo). 'Tsunami' reissue.
  24. John Kruth 'Bright Moments - The Life and Legacy of Rahsaan Roland Kirk' Via KLM? Heard a good BBC radio documentary on that a year or so back.
