  1. I got to listen to some of his reminiscences at a panel on the West Coast back in the late 90s and his good nature came across to me too. He was very forthcoming and lucid with his memories of Chet Baker etc. that day. Wish I'd had a tape recorder.
  2. Happy Birthday !
  3. Sometimes, some of these deletions held out suprisingly long. I bought 'special import' cassettes of 'Sixth Sense' and 'Caramba' back in 1976 when a damn big list of titles available was published in an advert in the UK Melody Maker magazine. There were quite a few 'Liberty' blue notes in that list. Also lots of Atlantics - I bought some of those too. Shipment must have come in to Liverpool docks from the Last Chance Saloon..
  4. I'll take it..
  5. Yeah - my Dad still hates them. I'm sure it rubbed off on me. :rsmile:
  6. I'm sure it's been said before but the only way to hear 'Agharta' is on the vinyl. I think I even prefer my UK CBS 2LP from 1976 over the Japanese CBS-Sony 2LP. You also have to follow Miles' instructions on the inside of the cover to crank up the volume to its highest possible level.
  7. Just listening to CD3 of this one - it's excellent. A fine, previously issued Frank Strazzeri session with Hadley Caliman. The 'Folk' album of Harold Land on Imperial is also a delight. Buy recommendation !
  8. The model must have got danger money for that one.
  9. 'Saxophone Collossus' would be a no-brainer for me. I'd be tempted to go for 'Alfie' on Impulse too.
  10. Lord Mayor of Bristol John Wells Baby Eating Bishop of Bath and Wells

  12. It's 'Frank' on the cover and spine of mine too (bought at least 5 years ago).
  13. Miles Davis 'Decoy' (UK CBS)
  14. Stompin' Tom Connor Leonard Cohen K D Lang
  15. I've got a couple of orders 'processing' under Amazon Marketplace too. No shipping email yet on either of them, however I remain optimistic and chilled out. For now !
  16. Michael Parkinson Norman Parkinson Cecil Beaton
  17. Tubby Hayes/Cleo Laine 'Palladium Date' (Fontana, mono). The sound quality of these Fontana mono first pressings is great !
  18. Sylvia Sims Alistair Simm Pete LaRoca
  19. The BBC 4 coverage over the last few days has been amazing - I slept through most of it though. A couple of intriguing documentaries - the one about the 'Beatles Sound' and its gradual evolution looked good. As did the one about the 'Beatles and the Russians In The Cold war' which seemed to be implying that they were a secret NATO weapon with the illicit flexible disks that could be hidden under shirt sleeves. I've never owned a Beatles record and the whole thing is lost on me I'm afraid. Possibly due to hype and over-exposure growing up 'Oop North' when they were in their heyday. I won't be buying the mono set.. It's never too late. Why not pick up an album like Revolver or Rubber Soul and see what you think. Yes, good idea - I think I will, just to check it out. Those look like good suggestions.

  23. They should be calming down a bit by now as they are winning the 1 day series by a mile !
