  1. The Spanish Blue Notes were great. Quite often they were Toshiba TOCJ masterings in cunning disguise !
  2. Everything by Gerald Wilson..
  3. Miles and Bob Dorough.... Bah - humbug ! (incidentally - Miles was on the TV yesterday in the street band for 'Scrooged'. Ha !)
  4. Both of these saw it through the last recesion OK so here's keeping fingers crossed. I am looking forward to both this year and hope that the jazz content will be up to standard - particularly of US artists. Sadly, Heloise Osborne, the lady who was a major organiser/producer of the Bath Fest over the years passed away recently though.
  5. The Bath Fopp ship was great - Used to regularly stock on EMI issues there (including Blue Note Conns) for £5 each. Wish that place would re-materialize ! Picked up both BN cover books there for £5 each too ! They also did a Blues cover book but missed out on that one.
  6. Miles Davis 'Directions' (UK CBS 2LP)
  7. Basil Kirchin 'Worlds Within Worlds' (UK Columbia stereo)
  8. Way to go !
  9. Lots of gifts of booze and food (including a really nice after-dinner selection hamper with coffee beans, port, italian biscuit delicacies etc). Other than that - a good jazz book selection including the Nica book (fabulous) and the latest (last?) edition of the Penguin Guide. Also a copy of Richard Cook's Jazz Encyclopedia. As for music - I treated myself to the Grachan Moncur Mosaic Select from True Blue and a few of the Cannonball Capitols that are about to go OOP.
  10. Fantastic spread ! It's occasions like that that Xmas is all about. I'm suffering from post-sprout syndrome this morning too..
  11. I believe she did a gig at the Cheltenham Festival only about 6 months ago. Yet more sad news..
  12. Don't think I ever bought a CD from them. The prices and selection in every store I set foot in were a joke. Fopp, on the other hand, were way better jazz-wise.
  13. The Pogles Noggin The Nog Bagpuss
  14. I've got that pressing too. A good one ! Kenny Dorham 'Una Mas' (BN NY USA mono)
  15. Sounds good ! Let us know what sort of playback resolution you get.
  16. Keith Tippett Group 'You Are Here... I Am There' (Akarma, 180g reissue)
  17. I remember when that Tower had a big rack full of the whole series of Jazz 625 VHSs. I should have bought the lot, instead of just the 4 or 5 I did pick up !
  18. Just as well because the river levels round here are looking worryingly high !
  19. Neil Ardley 'Kaleidiscope of Rainbows' (Gull)
  20. Hard to believe it was top of Jazz Jornal International's best seller list 30 years ago - ahead of Spyragyra and Chick C. etc.
  21. Yes, have a great birthday !
  22. Chesty Morgan Lee Morgan Cliff Morgan
  23. I remember seeing the 'Tes Esat' LP as a deletion around 1978 but didn't pick it up I'm afraid. I'd always thought it came out around 73/74.
