  1. Spotted this - sure to be of interest on the Board: Scott Wenzel - Part 1 Scott Wenzel - Part 2
  2. Happy Birthday, WD45 !
  3. Talking about Abbey, there's a very good article in this month's Jazz Review about her life and music written by Ran Blake.
  4. Moe Koffman Jeff Healey Phil Nimmons
  5. Indeed it was. The excellent 'Doin' The Thang', with Charles Davis and Hubbard.
  6. I'm sure I've seen this in the past on the TV and I think I've seen it at a Mark Cantor jazz film session. Great stuff ! Sure beats tweetie pie.
  7. Have been looking myself and have yet to see any Euro-deals on this one. Similarly the Quincy Jones. Still time though (he says, hopefully).
  8. Craig David Leigh Francis Bo Selecta
  9. This is also one of the ones that zweitausendeins were offering for not much over 30 Euro-zlotties. That offer lasted a couple of days before they sold out !
  10. Indeed. Wasn't it about $30 Euro-zlotties? And they were even doing $30 Mosaics back then too !
  11. Hey, I remember that stuff . Actually, it was the 'Rickards Red'. You used to get it all over Alberta. Served in pitchers !
  12. Well, I can't corroborate that as I never saw them live, but I can vouch for the fact that he's the only trumpeter I've ever seen do a backflip in the middle of a solo (from a stationary stance no less!) and keep on playing. My jaw dropped on my chest when I saw him do this at a Krewe concert. The man's got the moves, that's for sure. The blend of showmanship and creative musicality does Pops proud. Just happened to see the music video for Kool and the Gang 'Celebration' quite recently and there's a trumpeter at the back who looks a lot like Michael Ray doing this trick with the trumpet (spinning it like a baton). Must be him, I guess. The video was from about 1978. Backflips too? Wow !

  16. I used to have it to cover the non-NHS stuff - but came to the same conclusion and cancelled it.
  17. Wait till you get a dental implant done. The NHS then run for cover, never to be seen again. Well worth it, though.
  18. 15 out of 20 for me. 8/10 on the Canadian bit, so not all hope is lost. Got the suffrages wrong too !
  19. I nearly forgot ! Happy Canada Day !
  20. Rex Stewart Rula Lenska Ernie Royal HRH Princess Margaret Peter Sellers Neddie Seagoon
  21. Sorry to hear this but I suspect at some stage in the future this would probably have happened anyway. Incredible the way that biys of teeth give way when you least want it/least expect it. A crown isn't so bad anyway - certainly nowehere near the (physical) pain of the root canal. I hate those suckas !
  22. Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra 'Live In Tokyo' (Japanese Columbia, stereo)
  23. I'm late but happy birthday Late and FOB !
  24. I was listening to Andrew on Joe Henderson's 'Our Thing' last night, marvelling at his contribution to the album and thinking how much he is missed.
  25. Lou's coming up at the Jazz Cafe in London in a few weeks' time, backed by the good doctor. It'll be tempting to make the long (and $$$) journey in.
