  3. Dame Edith Evans Edith Massey Raymond Massey
  4. The Criterion edition of Forbidden Games is excellent--lots of great special features. It's a rather odd mix of films in this set.
  5. If you want to fool any site into thinking you're in the U.S., use Hotspot Shield, a free VPN download that will assign an IP address somewhere in Pennsylvania. I use it all the time when I'm traveling to access Pandora, Netflix, etc.
  6. Dravidians R.K. Narayan U. Srinivas
  7. John Birks Gillespie John Birch (sorry, Diz) Birch Bayh
  8. Bud Powell Dick Powell June Allyson
  9. My absolute favorite solo Lacy (and my favorite solo sax album) is Clinkers, on Hat. How about Trane's solo coda on on of the live recordings of I Want to Talk About You--just edit out all that stuff up front with that damn rhythm section.
  10. Ling Ling Lang Lang Lana Lang
  11. Edward Albee Albey Balgochian Blago

  16. sell.com and ioffer.com are gray market type sites where you can buy the kinds of bootlegs that ebay no longer allows. Actually, I've bought a lot of otherwise unavailable films and TV series from sellers on these sites.
  17. Especially considering the publisher: Publisher: Peter Pullman, LLC; 1 edition (February 14, 2012) One thing that struck me about the English edition I did read is how many of the incidents in Round Midnight were paralleled in the book.
  18. As has been mentioned above, you can download a free app for whatever device you want to use (e.g., tablet, computer, phone). Here's the link to the book from both Amazon and Amazon.de. Both have links on the right side to download the free reader app. http://www.amazon.com/Wail-Life-Bud-Powell-ebook/dp/B0079NR9IC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329863417&sr=8-2 http://www.amazon.de/Wail-Life-Bud-Powell-ebook/dp/B0079NR9IC/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1329863247&sr=1-1 So if you have an Amazon account, the app will link to any e-books you buy, as well as public domain works that are free through Amazon and Project Gutenberg.
  19. Your Kindle may be in the toilet, but your library is in the cloud.
  20. They were decent in 1985. When I was next in London in the '90s they were something altogether different.
  21. Ronnie Boykins Boy Ge Mendes Sergio Mendes

  24. No, it was the show where Miles opened for Lee Michaels! Further research shows that the original lineup was Miles & The Buddy Miles Express, but Buddy canceled and Lee Michaels was the replacement. I'm pretty sure Miles was on first. That was also the year (1970) that I saw Elton John as an opening act, for Leon Russell at the Fillmore. The Schaeffer show with Monk was the prior year.
  25. Queen Disc Q 003? Yeah. The info was on a sheet of cheap paper in typewriter type attached to the back of the jacket with tape, IIRC, and it said it was recorded at the "Sharine" Auditorium.
