I've been told that Somethin' Else is a subsidiary of Blue Note in Japan. The Tone Poet series has been used to release stuff from labels other than Blue Note like Capitol, Pacific Jazz, United Artists & Transition. I'm sure if they chose to release this as a Tone Poet LP, they could work something out with Somethn' Else.

Joe Lovano, "Tenor Time" (Toshiba/EMI 1996)
Kevin Bresnahan replied to Bol's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Hmmm.... I would guess that someone from "KUPIKU.US" is a member here as the $18.36 copy just jumped up to $33 since I posted this. Kinda scummy if that's what happened. -
Joe Lovano - Tenor Time (Something Else Japan). Joe blowing on standards with a nice rhythm section. Jim Anderson captured this session beautifully at Avatar Studios. I have no idea why Blue Note doesn't put this out in their Tone Poet LP series, as it would make an excellent choice

I do play it quite often but it's been a while. Time to play it again. -

There's a copy on discogs right now for $18.36, which is a steal for this rarity. I would jump on that if I were you. It is a very enjoyable date if Joe blowing on standards is your thing. It is certainly not some sort of ground breaking session though. When I got Joe to sign mine, his eyebrows went up and he was showing it to members of his band and saying, "See, it does exist". -
The CD she made with Lovano, "Tenor Time", used to be impossible to find. A check of discogs, shows quite a few up for sale there now: https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/3597319530 She was also on a Japanese date with Phil Woods leading the band called "Cool Woods".

What vinyl are you spinning right now??
Kevin Bresnahan replied to wolff's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
The easiest way I've found is to go to discogs.com and find the LP. I think this is the LP you're talking about: https://www.discogs.com/release/26848298-Graeme-Hewitts-High-Society-Jazz-Band-Live-At-Woodcray Once there, click on the cover photo, which brings it to the front of your screen, hover the cursor over the picture & click the right mouse button. When the menu shows up, click Copy Image. Come back here to your post and then put the cursor where you want the photo and hit Ctrl+v (paste). Like this: -
Kenny Burrell - On View At The Five Spot Cafe (Complete?)

Didn't Michael Cuscuna say that he gave the masters for that Shorter session back to Wayne? I know he did that with Horace Silver's "Live at Pep's" tapes. I'm surprised to hear that the Jackie McLean session is gone as I could've sworn I knew someone who had it years ago... maybe I'm thinking of another date? -
My new car is a 2025 Toyota Crown Signia in a color they call "Bronze Age".

HDMI cables carry audio & video and there is a handshake between the receiver and the AV equipment that can screw things up, especially if there is some sort of automatic sensing of what was turned on. Sometimes, I think they make some of these modern receivers too smart.

I wonder if Payton plays the keys on this CD? He plays the keys at his live shows almost as much as the trumpet.

Google translate... Hello, I have a Viscount Legend Live that I use with a Leslie 122 via a combo pedal. I'm quite happy with it, but I've listened to the sound of the Legend One, which I think is much superior. I think it's the same engine as the Legend Soul. What I'm looking for is the best emulation of the scanner-based chorus vibrato I have on my real Hammond M100. The vibrato on the Legend Live is far from good! Do you think it's better on the Legend One? I'm not interested in the other sounds of the Legend One, which I find uninteresting and unauthentic, apart from the analog synth sound. I have a Rhodes Mark 2 at home that I use with an old Twin Reverb; it's unbeatable. The only keyboard that comes close to the "Rhodes" is the "Crumar seven" that I sometimes use.

Does anyone know the story of Brown leaving the Jazz Messengers in 1982? Most on-line stories say it was due to arthritis, which I can understand as I have just a touch of it in my left wrist and it can be painful. But Brown went on to teach at various schools and record 20+ albums, including quite a few live dates which would indicate that live performance was not an issue. Were Blakey's charts just too much for his arthritis?

I haven't been able to catch Bartz live in several years, probably due to COVID, but the last times I did see him perform, he was still playing great. I hope he makes his way back to the Boston area again.

That's the only one so far but there was one other that I approved that smelled a bit off. There were also two that I didn't approve because their data was flagged by a spammer website I've been using.
-
I just approved all of the December new members and we got our first spammer. It's not as bad as I expected so far. I've probably approved about 100 new members and only one turned out to be a spammer, which is pretty good in my opinion.

Several of the one & two star reviews at Denon's AVR-S760H product page mention that their unit suddenly started going into "Protect mode" and shutting off. It sounds like you may be having that problem here. About the only thing I would try before sending it out for repair is to disconnect everything from it and see if it still happens. Sometimes, something you have connected to the main unit starts failing and causes a weird impedance on one of the inputs or outputs (speakers). If you disconnect everything and it still shuts down, it's probably a bad board.

The Babylon Bee seems to think some things are funnier than they really are. Considering some of their other tweets, I can see why.

That's a huge remote!
-
A few questions for clarity... What do you mean by "sudden power loss"? Do you mean the volume is being reduced or that it is shutting off? What is the model of the receiver? The remote model will not help as that remote was probably used for all of their receivers that model year.

I was just spinning the MFSL SACD yesterday and I don't see how that could be improved on. I wonder if AP could have used that DSD master?
