What is your budget here? WhatFI reported on this in February: https://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/best-usb-turntables-budget-to-premium-vinyl-spinners They did not include the Denon DP-450USB turntable, most likely due to it's higher price. Also, I am pretty sure that all of these USB turntables require you to hook it up to a PC and run a recording app to make your mp3 files. If you want some sort of "plug & play" or in this case, "plug & record", I don't think you're going to get that.

But all that gives us is the catalog number? That's where I got the cover image (searched for Novus BVCJ-637). But I cannot find this CD available anywhere on the web.
-
Got a cover image for you... that's about all I could find.

What vinyl are you spinning right now??

I don't have the Mosaic box. I bought the expanded (10 tracks) CD years before that Mosaic box was released. It's got Mobley on it. How could I resist? I see that it was produced by Bob Shad. I wonder if R. Ellen wrote all the music? -
On the original Jazz Selection 78s of the Hardee recordings, all of the tunes are attributed to Hardee: And yet when Shad issued it on his Jax label, it was then written by Ellen:

I'd rather play the CD than a Trip LP. -
The 3 Quinichette tracks are properly credited here:

So Mainstream was legit but on this CD, they were simply lazy about getting the song credits right?
-
Looking at this song list... was Mainstream a legit label? On this CD, they assigned almost all writing credits to "(R Ellen) Molique Music BMI" and gave themselves copyright of all of the music with ℗ Mainstream Records. Clearly these things are not true.

I wonder who is right on the recording date? Mainstream: DCC:

His keys clank a bit on this one too:

Out to Lunch - RVG vs UCCU with alternates
Kevin Bresnahan replied to Chuck Nessa's topic in Re-issues
The 2 alternates on the UCCU CD are only available there. That would be the main reason to have it. -
Joe Lovano, "I'm All For You" (Blue Note)

I bought this on LP even though the I think the CD sounds pretty damn fine simply because Universal put it on sale for ~$20. Like you, I am not finding it to sound better than the CD. I was pretty shocked to find out that it was originally recorded on analog tape. I wonder if "Joyous Encounter" was also recorded on analog tape? -
Always been a favorite of mine and I agree that the audio on the Collectables two-fer isn't the greatest. I always attributed it to the Atlantic fire that destroyed the masters but since there have been several other Atlantic titles reissued on CD with decent sound, maybe it was just a bad tape given to Collectables? There was a Japanese CD issued in 2012 but I did not pick it up.

Thomas M. Bresnahan - RIP

Yesterday I was installing a bike hanger in my garage. I needed to drive the screws deep into a stud. I used my cordless drill and stripped a Philips-head screw. Then I stripped another one. Even using variable speed, the damn thing kept stripping screws. After 3 or 4, I dug through a bunch of old screws in one of my dad's coffee cans full of screws and found 2 flat head wood screws. Big suckers. Then I went to the bottom of my toolbox and pulled out this monster flat head screwdriver that my dad gave me years ago. A little grunting and voila, installed. Thanks dad. -
It's the Post-Pandemic Covid Poll!
Kevin Bresnahan replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Of course it was! Look at the statistics after the vaccine was introduced. A large percentage of those dying after the vaccine came out were un-vaccinated idiots. And yes, they are the real idiots, not those of us who use the term "anti-vaxxer". Why are they idiots? Because the vaccine could have saved their lives. In case you don't want to read that story, the key point is this, "We estimated that vaccinations prevented 14·4 million (95% credible interval [Crl] 13·7–15·9) deaths from COVID-19 in 185 countries and territories between Dec 8, 2020, and Dec 8, 2021". BTW, what makes an anti-vaccine stance even more idiotic, at least here is the US, is that is became a political stance of the far right, resulting in a lot more deaths in that group of Americans. These people were proud to take their medical advice from Tucker Carlson instead of their doctors and quite a few of them died for it. -
Miles Davis: First Nine Albums On Prestige

This is how I have most of this material too, but when I ripped them to my hard drive, I separated them into their respective LPs. -
I have this CD with a different title and cover. I must have a Japanese version?

Back in 1989, Richard Dreyfuss made a movie called "Let It Ride". I always liked this movie. I was just reminded that Robbie Coltrane had a bit part as the window teller at the race track. He was good even in that small role.
-
Actor Robbie Coltrane has died at the age of 72. My family are huge fans of the Harry Potter books & movies. Coltrane's portrayal of Hagrid was one of the best in those movies. Coltrane's birth name was Anthony McMillan. He chose Coltrane for a stage name as an homage to John Coltrane.

I have always been a fan of "Walkin'", particularly the sextet tunes with JJ & Lucky. -

Kevin Bresnahan replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
So what? It's the antivaxxers that latch onto this as some sort of "victory" in their fight against the vaccination. The vaccine helps prevent you from dying. That's enough for me. BTW, https://www.sorryantivaxxer.com/ is a better website to find out about what happens when you don't get vaccinated than The Epoch Times. -
I picked this up when it came out. Chase has been teaching at Berklee for a long time and used to play pretty frequently in the Boston area before Covid. I haven't seen him on a club schedule in a while.
