  2. A friend sent me this link and I felt that it was worth sharing.
  3. I fell asleep and missed the ends of both games. Must have been something to see both. I give them credit for not giving up - it would have been easy to do that. And kudos to Girardi for always keeping things positive and not letting the team give up.

  5. I just checked and was surprised to see that there are at least a dozen Louis Smith Steeplechase recordings. Who knew? edit - And thanks to Nils Winther for doing all of these Louis Smith recordings.

  7. Hugh Laurie was totally believable as an American, at least to my ears and eyes. Could the difference be that many (probably not all) British actors are better trained than American actors?

  13. I've been watching series 2 and 3 of the Swedish Wallanders recently. I had no idea, until I watched a set of interviews that was included, that Johanna Sallstrom, who played Linda Wallander in series one. had taken her own life. She had a haunted look in her eyes that I assumed was part of the role she was playing, but obviously there was more to it than the role. The producers tried to replace her with the characters of Isabelle and Pontus in series 2, but they were just pretty faces. The character of Linda returned in series 3, played by Charlotta Jonsson (the character almost had to return, given the circumstances of Kurt Wallander's health), but it wasn't the same. Kinuta was right - "Krister Henriksson is Wallander. Kenneth Branagh is a British actor pretending to be him. No comparison at all." I have no desire to see any of the Branagh Wallanders that I've missed.
  14. Happy Birthday celebrations for Bird. Sad that he only lived to be 35.

  16. Let's not go overboard. I do believe that he'll be a fine player, but let's let things play out as they will. I realize that the Roy Hobbs reference was tongue in cheek.
  17. I guess we'll agree to disagree, Larry. I hear the string arrangements as being somewhat challenging to what Lee is playing, rather than providing the usual sweet backgrounds, and I like the contrast. Hey - different strokes. Nothing wrong with that.
