  1. Thanks, Chuck. Enjoyed what's there and look forward to the rest.
  2. I too am glad they didn't trade Bird or Severino for the services of a pitcher for a few months and then have to try and negotiate a long term contract. (Hamels has several years left on his contract, but he has a lot of miles on that arm.) No telling how those two will play out, but I'd much rather see what happens there than have the Yanks pay out big bucks to another hired gunslinger who will probably flame out halfway through his contract. Grow your own is what I want to see happen. Bird has obviously gone to the Jeter school of answering interview questions, After yesterday's game, when he was asked what he'd remember about the game, his reply was, "We won the game."
  3. Just looks like another overweight old guy looking through LPs from his youth. Nothing cool there.
  4. paul, what do you think of that hodes LP? I've never heard that one. Very good solid afterhours blues/jazz piano. I like it a lot.
  5. Art Hodes: South Side Memories (Sackville)
  6. Lonesome Sundown: If Anybody Asks You (Flyright)
  7. Very much agreed. IMO, Alderson spoiled a bunch of otherwise excellent Prestige albums. I've never understood why Schlitten employed him so often. Maybe his studio time came cheap.
  8. Lonesome Sundown: Been Gone Too Long (Joliet)
  9. I came across this while reading Robertson Davies' The Cunning Man: Paracelsian physician: Paracelsianism was a medical movement based on the theories and therapies of Paracelsus. It was prominent in late-16th and 17th century Europe and represented one of the most comprehensive alternatives to learned medicine, the traditional system of therapeutics derived from Galenic physiology. Based on the principle of maintaining harmony between the microcosm, Man; and macrocosm, Nature.
  10. I expected the Rangers to have a collapse, but they're hanging in there. They still have a chance to win the West. Surprising to me, but what do I know?
  11. I was taught in school to use the last ("Oxford", though I never heard it called that) comma, and still use it. My wife, on the other hand, knows more about punctuation and grammar than I do, and never uses it.
  12. The cover in the box set is the one on my LP.
  13. I already have most of the recordings I want, and it's not worth it to me to pick up a box for the one or two recordings I don't have. For those who don't already have, it there is some great music available here .

  17. Thanks for attempting to work on this, Jim. Hope they're able to straighten things out.

  19. Some very fine later Clifford Jordan:
  20. Yes, it would be nice if somehow the old search function could be returned. I miss the old one and the new one is useless.
  21. Nice exploring, Jeff. Thanks!
  22. B. Bumble and the Stingers Muddy Waters The Green Hornet
  23. He's nuts if it's not his last season, and any team that takes him on is nuts too.
  24. Unlike the 49ers, the '64 Giants didn't lose people. It just seemed like everybody got old at once.
