  1. Before I retired, even though I didn't have to get up until 7:45 or so, I hated getting out of bed in the morning. Now I find myself getting up sometime between 6:30 and 7.

  3. so, these experiences make you an expert..........I DON'T think so..................... I agree with you on this one, you need to "do other things". don't respond to my posts.............,plain and simple chuck, ignore my posts(as anyone can see, I don't spend a lot of time on this site) if you can, but you know you CAN NOT ignore my TRUTHFUL posts can you chuck. so you met pepper and trane "before their deaths" SO F------ WHAT.............."strange situation where I had personal contact with each before their deaths". 4. You'll never regret it. Happy listening!
  5. Art Pepper Select - The Return of Art Pepper session
  6. Two gentlemen who seem to have a shared distaste/contempt for the media. Not a bad thing to share.
  7. If anyone's interested in this music, get the Mosaic HRS. The sound is fantastic - especially compared to the Riverside/OJCs - plus a lot of great music that Riverside/OJC never issued.
  8. If you figure he'll play about 50 games each season, that comes to $400,000 per game. Not bad, if you can get it.
  9. If I'm truly down - doesn't happen very often - I tend not to listen to music. I usually read and try to get to a peaceful place.
  10. Allen -- If that's the way you feel, this remarkable video will drive you up and over the wall: http://www.richsamuels.com/nbcmm/garroway/johnny_hodges.html Not Allen, but thanks for posting it.

  12. Many thanks to Jim A. for five great years. I'm sure that everyone here is grateful that he opened this space to us.
  13. Allen - I agree with a lot of what you've said about LD, but you've lost me here.
  14. Bird referred to him as Johnny "Lily Pons" Hodges during a blindfold test.
  15. His earlier stuff was better - at least imo. The SSS sides - Reconsider Me - are my favorites.
  16. From my post #4 - in case you missed it: I'd look elsewhere for these: Johnny Adams - Go for I Won't Cry: From the Vaults of Ric & Ron Records (Rounder) or even better, Reconsider Me (Collectables) from SSS - the version of I Won't Cry on this one is worth the price of the CD.
  17. So what's Dan gonna go for?
  18. Johnny Hodges Small Groups - the Duke's in Bed session
  19. MVP - SHMVP. Who cares? It's about winning titles. How many people remember or care who won an MVP? Example 1
  20. Thanks, Jon. With the exception of an occasional televised game, all I get here are ESPN highlights. I rely on you west coasters to keep me informed on details.
  21. Any word on Bynum's return, Jon?
  22. Received the Hodges yesterday afternoon. Listened to part of disc one, & from that it sounds like I'm going to be very happy with the music I don't already have.
  23. Got my copy yesterday. Saw the DHL guy driving up and met him before the box had a chance to get soaked. Looks like the Hodges lasted beyond the weekend. Probably the one to a customer limitation had something to do with that.
  24. MVP - SHMVP. Who cares? It's about winning titles. How many people remember or care who won an MVP?
