  1. After a nice dinner at Frankie and Johnnie's we headed to Birdland and made the 11:00 PM set. WOW! The band was great! Tolliver was overflowing with energy. What a treat it was to see seasoned vets like John Hicks, Billy Harper, Jimmy Owens, Cecil McBee, Victor Lewis, and Bill Saxton mixed in with so much young talent all on the same stage. The kid on alto that took a couple of solos was most impressive. There is something about a big band.
  2. Ha! That would have been something.
  3. Very nice. We are fortunate to have Chuck here among us, no? I say yes.
  4. Oprah is a buffoon. It's amusing to see her reacting after getting taken for a ride buy the bullshit artist. She still walks on water though.
  5. It's going to be a beautiful day tomorrow. Sunny and in the mid 50s. A perfect day to go and see Charles Tolliver and his big band!
  6. I heard about it on the radio while I was driving. I went straight home to watch the news.
  7. Good for you. I slacked off a bit during the holidays and didn't really get active again until about two weeks ago. I do mainly cardio on a bike for 20-30 minutes. Next week I will get back into some strength training.
  8. Have a good one.
  9. I'm going to the Charles Tolliver Big Band show. I'll know tomorrow if it's Friday or Saturday night.
  10. Here is the link for the station in Phoenix. KJZZ
  11. I honestly thoght this thread was titled "farting". On that subject I have much experience. Fasting on the other hand, I can't offer any serious help. I did try a two day fast one time drinking nothing but water and a vegatable juice. It was pure hell and I gave in before I reached the 48 hours.
  12. Amazing!
  13. 40 is way too young for anyone to go. R.I.P., Chris.
  14. Fair enough
  15. Alec, just out of curiosity what do you do for the 3 months you have off? And no, I am not trying to stir shit up.
  16. I think I'll be making this one. Be sure to say hello. Will do.
  17. YES! The kids don't see it coming though.
  18. I had the same thought.
  19. Yep. Same problem here in Germany. ...and in the Netherlands. Glad to know this is a global problem.
  20. This is the first time I have not gone in probably the last 10 years or so. I spoke to some friends that were there today. General admission for Saturday is up to $50. It's become 95% American, mainly muscle cars. I think people get caught up in the frenzy and over pay for some of the stuff. I love to see Corvettes as much as the next guy, and I loves me my Cadillacs and Lincolns, but it was really special to see the rare Ferraris and Jaguars as well. You can only look at so many Camaros and Chargers. Jackson is a muscle car collector so it's pretty much gone that direction in the last several years. I might add he's also a scum bag piece of shit.
  21. It's going to be a little windy today, but temps in the upper 50s and we may even reach or pass 60.
  22. I hope you know I was just kidding. I know what you mean about those street interviews. There are/were a couple of game shows based on how people on the street would answer basic questions. I remember listening to Howard Stern ask a female model/actress one time what the capital of New York was...., her answer........., New Jersey. I think it may have been Tori Spelling. Funny, but sad.
  23. I know what you mean about kids and politics, but do they really know more or are they just repeating maybe what the teacher said? I know that surely seemed to be the case with my girlfriend's kids and their friends. I was never really able to have a discussion with them. The "facts of life" is another story though. I have no doubts kids today know much more than kids before them. By the way, Castro is wrong?
  24. What are the chances both of them will check the board today to see if they got birthday wishes? I bet they don't even remember their passwords. Still, I'll say happy birthday just to say happy birthday.
