  1. Just cuz it's your birthday, don't drink too much!
  2. Sure, that combined with the fact that these small record companies will be putting out versions on cd for those like me that don't do that downloading thing (or maybe not me because I spent big bucks on all the bootlegs many years ago). I had almost all the stuff in the Miles/Trane (even provided a bit) but it was still a nicely designed set and I listen to those versions rather than the earlier ones because of the concept and execution.
  3. The party is starting, so get there soon! Many happy ones!
  4. You mean the original double LP release on the Charles Mingus label was not legitimate? Apparently ALL releases of this have been legitimate, the orginal lps, the reissue lps, and now the cds!
  5. Yes, each year that goes by and each company like Gambit that is born with the new year. . . the Tree material grows less and less important. Though the Tree "box set" concept was nice, and some really nice artwork on a few of those (I like the artwork for the Fillmore and the Miles/Coltrane sets a lot).
  6. I forgot about the Spring 83---I should have skipped that one too. I stopped grabbing 80s Miles because I just don't listen to what I have much; the Montreux box is about the best of what I do have and I use that on occasion. 70s stuff I can't live without!
  7. Alas poor Miles-Tree, I knew him well. (Actually I still know half of the tree well!) This was the only of the trees I never got; don't miss it (too much 80 stuff).
  8. You're right, I was confusing this with a Mainstream title.
  9. I have the Pharoah on lp and really like it. . . but I like these later Impulses . . . . If you do too you'll like this one. I think I have the Galper too, and if I'm remenbering it right it's quite nice in a 'lectric Milesian way.
  10. Man. . .has some actors I really don't like much in it. . .(especially Damon). . . I'm passing.
  11. When he last visited us, my father was really impressed with the B&O turntable, receiver and speakers we received as an inheritance from Helen's aunt. When he learned that I am using my iPod a lot here in Houston and back and forth to and at work in Austin, he sent me a pair of B&O "A8" headphones. I have to tell you. . .they sound great with the iPod! I've only had them a few days but I won't part with them. . .
  12. Many happy returns!
  13. Have a fantastic day!
  14. Many more happy ones!
  15. I hope it will be spring. . . I might have more dollars then. Maybe. This fall/winter there's that Ellington Mosaic and a few other things. . . .
  16. I think most prospective buyers would grab this for Ray, that cat who died not long ago and that they made that cool movie about, as opposed to for Basie or Basie AND Ray. . . .
  17. Yes, I think that's the point, it's the latest thing in suspense tv, and it can work to get you to watch week by week. . . Or buy the dvd at the end of the season/beginning of the next! I'm not completely sold on it yet, but I think they're making an effort to be a fresh look at superheroes (i. e. using only the latest and greatest cliches!) and I'll give them a few more episodes.
  18. Any of you comic book heads out there watching this? Since the only comic books I've read in over a decade I've "seen" on a screen instead, and since I have time on my hands in the evenings, I gave this one a chance. Not too bad so far. . . considering.
  19. Oh it's in here somewhere, started by Dan Gould I believe, about three or four months ago. I am having no luck with the search function today!
  20. Belated wishes that it was a great day! Woo Woo!
  21. Sorry you got caught by that marketing ploy. We had discussed this here in advance of the release. . .which is how I would know to avoid the trap.
  22. Interesting. I love Dylan with the Band and love the Basement tapes. I was at the Last Waltz and loved that. I was also at the Before the Flood tour Oakland performance. For some reason, it didn't excite me at all, and the record doesn't either. There is just something too smooth and calculated about it. I can understand why the Band of Gypsies was the next step. Something had to be done to make it raw and real again. Yes, Before the Flood doesn't do much for me either. But a few boots of the tour I've heard do. Makes me wish they would do an official box of some of these or a big "Bootleg Volume." The Band and Bob CAN be very good listening. . . .
  23. I'm just walking by Brian. You don't get it, and I'm not playing your game. See ya, wouldn't want to, etc.
  24. Those are pretty darned rare those lps. Hardly spotted, couldn't have had a big print run. The CTI is coming back out again from Japan. Nice record.
  25. You know, I'm coming to the conclusion you are clueless as to how you come off. Walk on by. See ya.
