  1. Bill, a very savy post. My headband is unwound and off to you. . . .
  2. Mr. Felser is pointing you in the right direction. . GO! Hard to believe that concert was fifty years ago this month!
  3. No, the race recordings don't obscure the jazz in "Autojazz" to me. . . they weave around and through and color it. Interesting recording, but I'm not really sure you'll be happy spending the money on it.
  4. I'm right there with ya Swinger! I have all the novels, SF and otherwise, stories, etc. only lacking. .. "Nick and the Glimmungs". . . and the volumes of letters. I'm saving those for when my ship comes in.
  5. Yes, it exists on a Japanese cd, possiby ten years old now.
  6. Many many more happy happy ones!
  7. I don't think too much of that is directly from the novel.
  8. CONGRATULATIONS!
  9. David, I don't think I've seen it, I may have way back when in my younger days. . . . I have to say I'm not much of a fan or student of film noir, or "old classic movies." Film noir. . . well it has always paled for me in comparison to the novels that I've read and reread. . . not quite at all the same experience and I prefer the novels and to unblemish the novels. Other old movies. . . well I just flat haven't seen a lot of them. I sure didn't see them before I was born or as a kid, and as an adult for years I never rented movies or watched them on tv. . . I went to see new movies, and I still do (though not this summer for logistic reasons) and when I have seen the old ones. . . I'm just not that into it for the most part. A few stand out of course, but I don't pursue them. Time management just does not allow it! My life is too crowded.
  10. Van old pal, I think it will be different remastering on those titles. Just my thought. . . no evidence or certainty.
  11. The T-Bone Walker tracks on this (excellent) set will be part of the Mosaic: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Texas%20Guitar...lers:1921179694 The Freddie Slack material may be the only missing piece. . . .
  12. It really DOES grow on you. Love IS like that. Not only that, but if you select the "Participant" level on her website for 25 dollars you get that beautiful cd "Routes" mailed right to you. . . and you also get TWO HOURS of live material to download (two Japanese club appearances) that SMOKE, and the entire "Naked Breath" cd as a download, AND another hour or so of song demos and her explaining about how she came to write this or that song. WHAT A FLIPPIN' bargain. This is the way to go for this one.
  13. I would definitely not lie about someone I feel so strongly about! I'm getting those download files to work finally on my wife's new iMac (wonderful machine). YEAH! Now I can finally hear "Naked Breath" (just Monday accompanied by guitar!)
  14. There's only about six tracks on the Mosaic that are NOT on those two Capitol sets (two and three cd sets) and those are I believe all on the Capitol "Texas Guitar Killers" set. . . . I actually somewhere have a photocopy of the Mosaic discographic pages that were sent to me by Mosaic when I was querying them whether the set had material I did not have. At the time (the set was still in print) I had most of it on other cds and I decided not to buy the set. Since then I've gotten all the material. But I sort of wished I'd bought the set. I'd offer to photocopy and mail those pages but I'm away from home for a few months and on top of that it may take me a few months to find them in the general chaos that is my library. . . . If you haven't gottent this information by fall, let me know.
  15. Yes, that one has really grown on me too. If you go to www.mondaymichiru.com and join the "Routes" project you can get a copy directly from Monday, as well as downloads of the "Naked Breath" cd and other download material, all for one reasonable price (the downloads so far haven't worked for me on my Macs but I'll get them eventually with a little help from my friends). "Routes" is a beautiful digipacked wonder of a cd!
  16. Okay. . . I'm not going to go out on a limb and protect these guys. . . but this did appear in a series that was reproducing the original albums as they were. .. .And it does a good job of that (great sound, great cover reproduction, large size reproduction of back cover/notes in interior case pocket).
  17. Yes.
  18. Scott, thanks. Have a few more months of caretaker duty here in Houston. . . it's not fun. . . I'm dong as much of my job as I can from here and hoping it will keep me employed. . . but really I want all the treatments to be effective. We're in the middle of a snag now, hopefully to be averted in the coming week.
  19. Interesting article/interview from 2002 about Monday . . . . Quite revealing in a way. http://www.popmatters.com/music/interviews...ay-021226.shtml
  20. That's a personal thing. I like RVGs and JRVGs and K2s and others dislike the RVGs and JRVGs and like the (to me dull/smooth sounding) TOCJ remasterings. Best to try for yourself in your system and draws your own conclusioins.
  21. I wish I could give it a spin today. . . it's at home and here I am in a clinic waiting room in Houston. I agree, this is a fantastic session. The composition and arranging are topnotch, and so is the playing of all concerned, one of those days when it all lined up and went so well.
  22. Yes, that is the complete lp as released originally. Sounds FANTASTIC to me int hat new cd reissue! There are additional tracks that were also included along with these lp sides in the Complete Mercury box set. Those addtional tracks I believe are also on the Lonehill release, making it "complete". . . .
  23. Peggy really related to the mood and the feel of that song, but I don't think it was for any personal historical reasons. I don't think that the songwriters were writing real incidents either. I think Peggy is one of the very best American singers there was.
  24. It's on Gambit. Dusty shows "RCA/Gambit" but I doubt this is that "legit". . . (I know, common domain in Europe, but I don't think this was put out in collaboration with RCA or with their consent).
