  1. Mark, yeah I think so. I was home just about 20 hours over Friday night and Saturday afternoon; now I'm back in Houston for the week with my wife's treatment. I listened to the cd a few times in my stereo system (how I miss it) and then loaded it into iTunes on my iBook. It did have printing on the cd that I remember running right towards the center.
  2. The Ellington is quite nicely done. Looks like a Mosaic. . . labeled a Mosaic. . . Sound is what you would expect from a Columbia cd remastered by Mark Wilder. Original liner notes, and new notes by Scott Wenzel. It's a great swinging little session.
  3. Thanks for the info. I've never heard any of those lps. . . but in a way I'm glad it's these and not some others such as "Bossa Nova U. S. A." or "Angel Eyes" that Brubeck doesn't want to see reissued.
  4. Thanks for posting the cover!
  5. Well, dustygroove may have it again at an almost reasonable price. . . . I haven't found her stuff to be cheap anywhere!
  6. Wow. I'm really enjoying the new release from Randy Weston, "Zep Tepi". . . .It's a return to trio format, with the incredible Alex Blake and the awesome Neil Clarke, longtime collaborators. . . . And the tunelist reads like a "Randy Weson's Greatest Hits"! If you are a Randy fan and like the stuff he's done with Alex and Neil (and others in their roles) over the last decade or so. . . this one's for you.
  7. Well, I've been enjoying "4 Seasons." I like how she's not afraid to be positive and pretty in her music and lyrics. And I love the way she has put together a host of elements and yet the results aren't collages and pastiches but a real organic growing together of things, things mingling and becoming one as they grow towards that sunny light from the dirt. This is a really really fine release. I hear bits of Stevie Wonder, even bits of Pharoah Sanders. And lots of Monday. Thanks be to Jim for pointing the way.
  8. Thanks for the alert!
  9. I actually really like the music on that one. . . . I'm learning to just sort of not hear the narration. . . it's not easy but I'm hoping it can be done in time. . . .
  10. Yes it's like reading one of the Jim Thompson novels where you can see what the characters are thinking of doing and you want to grab them and shake them and say "DON"T DO IT!". . .but you can't. . . .
  11. Ah the Decware ZBox! Welcome!
  12. Having my first listens to "Routes" and "4 Seasons." I can begin to see why Jim has become a bit. . .obsessed!
  13. GREAT NEWS! Thanks for posting that.
  14. Best of luck, and visit us when you can!
  15. I think it's distracting newswatchers from the mess of a "war on terror" going on.
  16. I'd say there was probably a sentiment along these lines shared by more than a few.

I've had the Eddie South since it was released and have spun it about six times. If you like violin jazz, you'll like it!
  18. I got it in the mail too.. . like it more than I thought I would from the few songs I'd heard before. Sad to see this series come to an end. Hope they have an encore planned of some kind. . . .
  19. Forking wonderful set! Good score!
  20. Looks like three RCA (on Legacy in remaster) Nina Simone cds are added. . .
  21. My Ellington shipped this week. . . wish I were home!
  22. For about six years I had an all latex mattress, amazing, love it, it's my favorite ever. My wife though. . . she gradually felt she didn't like it anymore and made me by a Select Comfort "Sleep Number" bed. SHE'S happy as heck about it. I'm not that jazzed about it but my vote no longer counts. Lately we've been sleeping on hotel beds. ARGH.
  23. I have the Goodman Centenial cd/dvd. VERY COOL.
  24. I just HAVE to say. . . . WOMP! WOMP!
