  1. It would be easy to do as TOCJ released this as a "club" item a few years ago. . . it's "digitized." Also, I believe that several tracks are appearing as extras on the new Water release by Roy Ayers. . . .
  2. I preordered the Ray Nance. I have to have Ray Nance cds. I passed on the Ayers. I have the lp, I have the Vi Redd lp that the bonus material is from. . . .
  3. Did you look HERE for the release info? http://www.mighty-quinn.net/Home.html Select Future Projects You can email info@mighty-quinn.net
  4. I like the one Evan (cooked up?) offered up!
  5. I'm not worried. I can outrun him, for short distances at least, and that's all either of us can handle. . . .
  6. Jim Sangrey Elias Haslinger
  7. Jim, yes those Merrills are out of print again. . . good call. . . . Great material.
  8. Many more happy ones! Many more naked ladies! (Ritas without salt that is).
  9. Fascinating! Great!
  10. Oh yeah, I don't like Miles Davis' art. But don't tell him. . . .
  11. Man, I love Pee Wee Russell's clarinet playing . . . with a passion. But I dislike his art. I'm a George Wettling fan though, drumming AND art!
  12. She played quite well on a recent Jazz at Lincoln Center broadcast of Randy Weston performing his "Ancient Futures" suite (in my opinon).
  13. I cranked up Airto's "Homeless" yesterday while doing chores. It was great fun. Sort of in a genre of its own. . . whacky zany stuff. Some of the beats sound sort of like what some people do with drum machines. . . but it was no machine!
  14. I missed this thread originally but learned about the site last week when it was written up in the NYT. Anyway, if you search by B.B. King, there's a two-song Playboy After Dark appearance. Best of all, my audio software allowed me to record the download as it played, so I added it to a compilation disc I've made of rarely heard/seen B.B.
  15. Well, I kindof disagree, I really really enjoy that "looseness" of a lot of the Ellington band recordings --- I don't really feel it is "inferior". . . . It often adds a certain swing and, a bit of extra creativity to the soloists.
  16. I think this is an okay price on a great box set! It is/was expensive new. I have actually been revisiting this set. I love the performances here, and there are some items rarely performed elsewhere on this set. Also, there is some great playing by then guests to the band Nance and (yes) Webster. And the Ella material is strong. The rehearsal disc is also quite fascinating. If you happen to be big on Ellington this is a set unlike others.
  17. Personal Admission Of Guilt Pt. 2: I've always kinda dug it. Personal admission of guilt #3: I have never seen or heard of this one!
  18. As Chuck mentioned elsewhere on another yourmusic thread, I'm finding I like this a lot more than the last few times I listened to the previous version I had of this. Nice Woody, nice Kenny, just plain nices stuff. One of the Ervins I like the most.
  19. ak, Yeah, I think you'd like it.
  20. Zane Mark was the actor who portrayed Duke in The Cotton Club.
  21. Actually D, nah. . . . I really enjoy not having a car, and that car was nearly impossible to find parts for THEN let alone now. What I wish I could still "drive" would be my 1974 BMW R90. I still have it. . .but unless I want a divorce I can't get it up and running. I just love motorcycles far more than any cars. Though this is not mine, mine looked like this once! Best machine I ever commandeered down a road.
  22. I've had this stuff for years and years. I don't spin them that often because I've found even better performances from collectors tapes! And there is so much to listen to, and increasingly for me less and less time. Lee has long ago fallen off my heaviest rotation list.
  23. I can see her dad, yes, but I can see her mom in her too.
  24. This is one that does me in.
  25. Whistling dixie thou art not.
