  1. The 1932 stereo Ellington material.
  2. MIke. . . I think you'd dig the Quebec. His playing is amazing! I think you'll like the organists too. The "sounds" of the organs may be a bit dated in places, but the playing from those hands is something to hear.
  3. Isn't it About that Time! ? YES! Welcome back!
  4. Sorry Clint. . . I'll do my best to alert you again if I hear of another opportunity!
  5. No I haven't heard it. . .but I will . . . I've a few others to buy first!
  6. Yes, it looks great!
  7. HEADS UP GUYS! Looks as if there were some cancellations, and they're accepting some more preorders! http://stores.musictoday.com/store/dept.as...5Fid=601&sfid=2
  8. Why wait? How about two singing Happy Birthday!
  9. A special draft for you today my friend!
  10. I guess I'm the oddball. Alternate takes fascinate me, I like them sequentially.
  11. It's hard to hear her exactly, but I hear "Happy Birthday Brad"!
  12. That's interesting Larry. I tried and tried to like the Rattle version. . . a large part of my problem may be the recording. . .but it never connected with me at all! Sold it when I got the Sony fifties version which seemed da bomb to me.
  13. OH I think you are dead on. . . I think it did stem from those things.
  14. Bertrand, I don't think any of those will be "endangered" within your proposed time frame.
  15. More seditious comments from Duke. . . . Hard to tell if he REALLY felt that way, or if it behooved him to say so. And he's probably right, from his viewpoint as a composer and a chronicler of "my people." And P and B may have been far less a success if it were more as Duke would have had it. I personally feel that the opera is a masterwork, I like it in its original form very much. But then again, I have a TOTALLY different background and viewpoint from Duke! And. . . my dad instilled a reverence for Gershwin in me by osmosis that I didn't even really realize I had for a long time.
  16. The above copains describe it will. This was one of the few times I followed the herd. (Probably the case for many of us who did!) Also I'll chime in with WELCOME John! Glad you're here, I've enjoyed our little communiques and commerce off the board!
  17. Hmmmm . . . . doesn't seem that way to me. I mean sad, yes, in that he's not around. But not ancient. Maybe because I'm just a few steps away from ancient!
  18. The Jacquet was available on cd. . . as well as the Ellis and the Burrell.
