  1. Yes, I'd like to hear the live one but it's not easily available.
  2. Recorded in Cuba, a great session. Stefon Harris/Christopher Scott/David Sanchez “Ninety Miles” Concord cd en.wikipedia.org Ninety Miles Project Ninety Miles Project is both a jazz album and documentary film recorded on Havana, Cuba, in May 2010, and features American jazz artists Christian Scott, Stefon Harris, and David Sánchez. The follow-up record, Ninety Miles Live at Cubadisco, was released on September 24, 2012. The name alludes to the stretch of waters between America, Puerto Rico...
  3. After spinning a classical SACD I am on to an Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie disc on Pablo. “Ella and Basie–A Perfect Match” Pablo cd. Late Ella, late Basie, aged to an expressive height.
  4. The Don Rendel Ian Carr Quintet “Change Is”
  5. Starting the day on other worlds. Joe Lovano & Dave Douglas Sound Prints “Other Worlds”
  6. I've read that it IS a needle-drop. Haven't my copy yet.
  7. They can do wonders with needle-drops today. The new Pharoah Sanders supposedly sounds amazing for example. Must be . . . A I.
  8. It's an okay session, not essential for either a Chico or Little Feat fan imo. I have it on cd from Culture Factory.
  9. Anita O’Day (with the Gary McFarland Orchestra “All the Sad Young Men” Verve I’m listening to this session in the O’Day Verve Mosaic box. I’m fascinated with McFarland’s arranging and his music in general. This is a good pairing.
  10. “10 Anos de Toquinho & Vinicius”
  11. Jeremy Steig “Wayfaring Stranger” Blue Note/ Dusgty Groove cd 587×600 117 KB Quite a band–Sam Brown on guitar! Bass, Liner Notes – Eddie Gomez Drums – Don Alias Flute – Jeremy Steig Guitar – Sam Brown
  12. Is there really such a box that can be compiled? I have doubts there is enough of useable quality to release.
  13. Starting the morning off with something diffferent that I haven’t heard for a while. This edition has a hi-res verson on DVD that sounds great, but my main system doesn’t play DVD (my other two systems do) so. . .here’s the excellent sounding cd version. Shostakovich: Pavel Kogan, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra – Symphony No. 5 Opus 47
  14. I haven’t heard this one in too long, a nice live date with Kenny and Jay Hoggard on vibes. Kenny Burrell “Guiding Spirit” Contemporary Japan cd
  15. Kenny Burrell "Pieces of Blue & the Blues" Blue Note cd Kenny Burrell, Rodney Jones and Bobby Broom at the Vanguard. What a night that would have been to have been there.
  16. Bill Evans Trio “Live at Shelly’s Manne-hole, Hollywood, California” Riverside/OJC K2 cd My woofers like the bass on this cd.
  17. I cleaned this and it still is noisier than I like, but a great listen to a great LP. The mono is great as well, and mine is a quieter copy. Jack Teagarden “Think Well of Me” Verve stereo LP
  18. Weather Report "8:30" Sony SRCS 9147~8 lp facsimile 2 cd set, disc 2
  19. Sasha Dobson With The Chris Byars Octet “The Darkling Thrush” Smalls Records There’s something a little offbeat about this release. I like off beat. She reminds me of Anita O’Day a bit. The arrangements are sort of . . . out of time. Elements of early 'sixties/late 'fifties, elements of now. I’ve liked Byers on other leader and sideman dates, and the recording is interesting. This has sat on the shelf a long time. 1024×683 131 KB https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Apartment_(album)
  20. Is it Monday yet? That is when my copy is due to arrive. I've waited years to hear this.
  21. I was interrupted shortly into this one, so I’m repeating it. Dexter Gordon “Complete Trio and Quartet Studio Recordings 1974 1975 1976"” Steeplechase, disc 1 OMG I forgot how awesome the two takes of "Old Folks," duets by Gordon with NHOP, are on this disc. Just Dexter at his best and NHOP gives him everything he needs.
  22. Dexter Gordon “Complete Trio and Quartet Studio Recordings 1974 1975 1976"” Steeplechase, disc 1 Saw someone else listing this as being played and darned if I didn’t want to join in.
  23. I forgot how cool the arrangement and performance of "Monk's Dream" is and the great one-two punch of that and "Frere Monk."
