  1. Boy Sony reissued these Miles discs over and over. I've also kept a Blu-Spec CD version that has "I Thought About You" added in where it belongs (I LOVE that track).
  2. Miles Davis “Live in Europe” Sony SRCS 9756 lp facsimile DSD remastered cd I’ve loved this performance ever since I first heard it on my fake stereo lp copy in the mid-seventies. Just amazing music! This mono disc sounds much better.
  3. Antonio Carlos Jobim “Passarim” Verve cd This is a beautiful album. I certainly wish Universal would remaster and remix this one, it would really shine.
  4. Okay, I'm awake enough now for this one. Johnny Griffin and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis "Ow! Live at the Penthouse"

  10. Paul Desmond “Pure Desmond” CTI cd 2003 Desmond considered this an Ed Bickert album more than his; Bickert is well presented and featured. (Bickert is on guitar, and Ron Carter on bass, and Connie Kay on drums). I didn’t realize until today how different the cd versions are from the original LP, and how the two cd versions differed. Chronicled here: en.wikipedia.org Pure Desmond Pure Desmond is an album by American jazz saxophonist Paul Desmond recorded in 1974 and released on the CTI label. In September, 1974, Desmond brought Canadian guitarist Ed Bickert to the United States to record the studio album, in a quartet setting with Ron Carter and Connie Kay. This was Bickert's first major appearance playing jazz on a U.S. record label in over a decade, and it served as a showcase for Bickert's guitar playing. “I consider it Ed’s album, really,” Desmond told writer Gene Le... 600×600 88.4 KB
  11. Keith Jarrett’Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “After the Fall” ECM 2 cd set, disc 1 800×800 144 KB 1500×1049 277 KB A concert after Jarrett’s first battle with chronic fatigue. An excellent show!
  12. I needed a nice jolt. This music is like what I imagine a stiff drink is to those who do stiff drinks. I just love every second of this music that I have been listening to for nearly fifty years. Miles Davis “E.S.P.” Sony SRCS 9709 lp facsimile DSD remastered cd
  13. You're going to love that amp more and more each day. I do mine!
  14. Revisiting this new SHM-SACD from Japan. . . wow, this sounds good. It’s the “over-dubbed” version and is probably the best I’ve ever heard this. Beautiful lp facsimile gatefold packaging as well. Part of the Acoustic Sound SACD series.
  15. Keith Jarrett’Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “After the Fall” ECM 2 cd set, disc 2 800×800 144 KB A concert after Jarrett’s first battle with chronic fatigue. An excellent show!

  19. Wow. I haven’t revisited this recording in some time. This dance remix disc will challenge your system. It’s a good tool . . . if you get distortion-free clarity and a huge dynamic punch from this recording, your system can handle almost anything! Monday Michiru “Alter Ego: Nexus Remixed”
  20. Stockholm Swing All Stars “In the Spirit of Duke Ellington” Interesting interpretations with a different feel than the Ellington band’s. 600×533 64.1 KB
  21. Daria Toffali “Caminhos Cruzados - Antonio Carlos Jobim Song Book” Venus cd New to me Jobim songbook.Despite the pumped up Venus sound, and the language barrier, I like these stark interpretations. Bass – Nicola Barbon Drums – Roberto Facchinetti Lead Vocals – Daria Toffali Piano – Massimo Faraò
  22. SHM-SACD just arrived from cdjapan.co.jp Wow. This may be the best sounding of the recent Coltrane SHM-SACDs.
  23. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers “One For All” A&M cd 600×600 126 KB I believe this is Art’s final recording.
  24. Francy Boland & The Orchestra “Blue Flame / Red Hot / White Heat” MPS 2 cd set, disc 2 then disc 1 I was thinking I’d play some Ellington and saw this and played these two discs first instead. Not a bad choice or dissimilar choice. . . Boland was very influenced by Ellington and Basie, and both are referenced here in arranging style. Soloists are mainly artists that are featured in various configurations of The Clarke Boland Big Band, or small groups drawn from the Big Band. Really good music and sound! Followed by Orin Evans “The Magic of Now” Smoke Sessions cd Immanuel Wilkins! I love his playing.
