  1. On to some mature swing from a Texas tenor. Arnett Cobb “Funky Butt” Progressive Records/Solid Records Japan cd Bass – Ray Drummond Drums – Ronnie Bedford Piano – Derek Smith Tenor Saxophone – Arnett Cobb Recorded on January 22, 1980 at The Big Apple Studio in NY.
  2. Miles Davis “Complete Live at Plugged Nickel 1965” Sony SACD box set, disc 2B
  3. Jay Hoggard “Overview” Muse Records cd Jay with Geri and Freddie–and a good bassist I don’t think I have ever heard before this disc, Ed Rozie. A nice disc, and certainly no victim of the loudness wars, this has to be turned UP.
  4. Playing this one again. Miles Davis “Seven Steps to Heaven” Mobile Fidelity SACD This disc certainly sounds good. The music has sounded good for about sixty years. . . .
  5. Miles Davis “Complete Live at Plugged Nickel 1965” Sony SACD box set, disc 2A It’s a fun adventure going through this music again. SACD sound is nice bonus this time around.
  6. Daduka Da Fonseca “Samba Jazz & Tom Jobim” Fantastic to start the morning off with this favorite Brazilian jazz disc. I really like listening to Maucha Adnet sing. There’s a wonderful texture to her voice and if there’s one thing she knows, first hand, it’s the music of Maestro Jobim.
  7. Miles Davis, Lee Konitz, Gerry Mulligan, "Birth of the Cool" recording session, January 21, 1949.
  8. Just got in the mail from Music Direct this one. . .and also just got set up the souped up CSP3 I bought from a Decware Forumite also today. . . so all I can say is this disc sounds great! And so does the preamp! Different in more than slight ways than the ZTPRE. Soon I’ll compare this SACD to the earlier Analogue Productions one. My guess is that they will both sound really great and it will be hard to choose a favorite. 600×596 88.7 KB
  9. “O Universo Musical de Baden Powell” 2 cd set, disc 1 A friend of mine calls Baden Powell “the Brazilian Kenny Burrell” and it’s easy to hear why. Great music.
  10. Abbey Lincoln "Abbey Sings Billie--Live at the UJC" Enja/Solid Records Japan cd Some great Harold Vick on sax! Followed by "Miles Davis Live at the Plugged Nickel: Tower Records/Sony SACD box set, SACD 1
  11. Sam Most “From the Attic of my Mind” Xanadu cd Most was quite a flautist. Kenny Barron is very good here.
  12. Donald Byrd “Blackjack” Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD UCCU-45071 Now I’m ready for some Byrd boogaloo. This is quite a band.
  13. Miles Davis “Seven Steps to Heaven” Analogue Productions SACD Two bands. Twice great music. This sounds marvelous. In a few days I’ll have the Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD version here, it’s in the mail. Will I need both? Probably not. . .but I’ll probably keep them both. It’s sort of a sickness.
  14. Wow. This came in yesterday from amazon, his first one in some time, and it's a LOT. I love Ed, "The Collossus of Rio"! https://www.mps-music.com/releases/benind-the-tea-chronicles/ Ed Motta "Behind the Tea Leaves" MPS cd
  15. It’s Sunday, a good time to play this one. John Coltrane “A Love Supreme” Impulse/Universal Japan SHM-SACD UCGQ-9037 (Acoustic Sound Series SACD) There are so many good sounding issues of this masterwork. This one sounds phenomenal.
  16. Something quite different that will put your system through its paces! Flying Lotus “Yasuke Original Soundtrack” Music for an anime film. Like any Flying Lotus album it takes you somewhere.
  17. Back to this one before it gets swallowed up by the shelves again. Such a great “anthology” of sessions. Bill Evans “Treasures” Elemental Music 2 cd set, disc 1 The system is sounding so good this morning!
  18. There are dozens of cds available on discogs. . . .
  19. Jim Hall – Ron Carter – Duo “Alone Together” Milestone/OJC cd Been too long since I spun this one.
