  4. Duke Ellington “1950-1951” Chronogical Classics cd
  5. A beautiful Shirly Horn album. (There are so many!) Shirley Horn “You Won’t Forget Me” This one has guest stars, including Miles, Branford, Wynton and Toots.
  6. Bill Evans “Live at Keystone Korner 1980: Vol. 8” Solid Recods Japan cd, just released.
  7. Joyce “Astronauta – Songs Of Elis” Blue Jackal cd This was the first Joyce disc I ever bought, and it’s a good one. What a band! The system has been sounding fantastic this month. What a joy to have a resolving, involving system. Acoustic Guitar – Dori Caymmi, Romero Lubambo Bass, Producer – Rodolfo Stroeter Design, Graphics, Layout – Marcílio Godoi Drums – Tutty Moreno Grand Piano – Mulgrew Miller, Renee Rosnes Saxophone – Joe Lovano
  8. Jelly Roll Morton "Jazz Greats" cd (J.R.T. Davies transfers).
  9. I'm glad I made it through it. I didn't learn much I didn't already know and the writing was a chore to get through.
  10. I like Rouse with Monk a lot. Paul Jeffrey too. Those two I like the most in the tenor chair with Monk. I would have loved to have seen Paul Gonsalves in the tenor chair in a Monk Quartet. Like Rouse he was in the Ellington, Basie and Gillespie bands as well. Paul and Thelonious would have been interesting to hear playing together.
  11. It's not a sacrilege. It's just your opinion, just as mine is mine.
  12. Oh my. Big Cannonball fan here and so glad he was in this sextet at that time.
  13. Yes, I too have enjoyed many of his novels. Sad. RIP.
  14. I've heard Live At Carmelo's Jazz Club, first as tapes circulating among collectors, and then more than a decade later the Fresh Sound cd set, and the playing is great. The sound is good on the 2 cds. I have not heard the Noto material.
  15. Omar Sosa & NDR Big Band “ES: Sensual” This disc makes my system sing!
  16. Gaia Wilmer “Folia – The Music Of Egberto Gismont” disc 2 Arrangements reminiscent in ways of the recent work of Hermeto Pascoal. Brisk and bright, a good morning experience.
  17. Shirley Horn, “I Love you, Paris” Gitanes cd 600×603 72.9 KB She was a wonderful pianist.
  18. MIles Davis “Jazz at the Plaza” Sony lp facsimile 20bit SBM cd. I have several versions of this, and decided to play this one today. . . though this is not the best recording, with wonky stereo artifacts, the music is outstanding. Cannonball plays two awesome solos here.
  19. I listened to “Oro Negro” again–it was really sounding great. Adventure Music is a label to trust for great sounding releases. Now on to “The Complete CBS Studio Recordings of Woody Shaw” disc 1
  20. Red Garland “A Garland Of Red” Prestige/Universal Music Japan SHM-CD UCCO-5537 Red’s first album as a leader. Great Paul Chambers playing here. . .great mono sound.
