Lucy and I are finishing up Project Runway Season 6 (re-watch on her part) and the latest episode of the new season. I haven't been watching much TV otherwise. . . music has been reinforcing and sustaining me and I'm dedicating as much time as I can to that.
Miles Davis “Sorcerer” Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD
OMG, Tony Williams! I remember being so inspired by his playing when I first discovered this album decades ago–this is a great showcase for his amazing talent. (And also a testament to the excellent engineering on this album).

A hot night, a stuffy morning. Summer is in full force here in NE Ohio.
Grateful Dead 60th Anniversary box set, “Enjoying the Ride”
Deer Creek Music Center, Noblesville, IN (7/15/89) disc 1
George Masso & Dan Barrett “Let’s Be Buddies” Arbors Jazz cd
Close friendly jazz in excellent sound. Masso is a seasoned pro of decades of jazz leadership and a multi-instrumental master and Barrett is a virtuoso trombonist and can play a mean trumpet.
This is a really nice session. I like Ms Cole and One for All. Unfortunately this is on Venus cd. I just really don’t enjoy the Venus house mastering style. It’s not the worst of the lot but I wish it had been on a label with different mastering. I can futz around with gain in my system and it is nice, but I’d rather not futz.

One of the 85th Anniversary UHQCD from Blue Note Japan mastered by Kevin Gray, Sonny Clark “My Conception.”
Previous cover of this album:
An all-star band. I keep hearing Bud Powell every time I listen to Sonny Clark.
Zoot Sims & Bob Brookmeyer “Tonite’s Music Today/Whooeeee” Storyville/Muzak Japan 2 cd set, disc 2
Wow, these Muzak reissues sound so much better than any other version of the Storyville or Black Lion issues I’ve ever heard.
Bob Dylan “The Bootleg Series Vol. 14: More Blood, More Tracks” Columbia box set, disc 3
Wow. I have never quite heard Bob’s voice on these discs quite like this. Wow.
Woke up an hour ago with a lot of thoughts in my brain and a to do list that was forefront and had a hard time going back to sleep. So. . . thought I would listen a bit and see if I will get sleepy again.
This is a great late night album. . . and Ms. Horn is always a great musical companion. Ah!

Sneaking a few listens in this cool morning before I have to go back to the dealership with my car.
Starting off with the expanded Charles Mingus “The Carnegie Hall Concert–Deluxe Edition,” Rhino 2 cd set, disc 1–the newly released first part of the concert. The sound is so good!
A reissue truly done right!
