  1. I'm going to concentrate on something my Dad had encouraged me to consider and implement the last few years.
  2. No, I think it's a cd.
  3. Yes, and at that time he was able to sit down and accompany anyone Granz put oh stage with him, which is quite a feat, and why he was there.
  4. OK, thanks. I rest easier. . . I swore it was out there. . . but I couldn't find it on amazon just now.
  5. I was referring to sessions (K) and (W) which were both on side B of the Verve LP "Carnegie Blues." I swear that was out on cd. . . but it seems that I may have been confusing a digital file version released about four years ago.
  6. Darn. . . I just did a squidco order.
  7. All but a few tracks of this has been out on LP and cd before so that quells the interest of quite a few. I have probably more than half this but I pre-ordered--I like to have Mosaic sets, and I like the top-notch consistent mastering of material I have over several different releases (Anti-Oscar sentiment seems to be in play as well). All the Opera House material from Ella, Stan Getz, Hawkins and Roy Eldridge have been on cd. The Lester Young Carnegie Blues has been on cd. Jazz at the Hollywood Bowl has been on cd. I am uncertain how much of the remainder has been on cd.
  8. SFJazz Collective “Wonder–Songs of Stevie Wonder”
  9. Lonnie Liston Smith & the Cosmic Echoes “Cosmic Funk” Flying Ducthman Japan cd 2022 Fun! Perhaps my favorite of the Cosmic Echoes releases
  10. June Christy “Fair and Warmer” Capitol/Universal Japan lp facsimile cd 2022 What a band on this one, including her hubby Bob Cooper. Rich and vibrant Capitol sound.
  11. Donald Byrd “Slow Drag” Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD 2022 Billy Higgins’ vocal is always fun. . . “Your Mama. . . Your Mama? . . . Your Mama!”
  12. Re-watching "Black Lightning" season 1 on Blu-Ray.
  13. Keith Jarrett Trio “Tribute” ECM 2 cd set, disc 1 Haven’t spun this one in a long time and that was a mistake. All the trio albums are great.
  14. I like this quite a bit. More than you perhaps. All play well, and I enjoy both of the singing.
  15. https://globalnews.ca/news/9347930/ubc-effective-infection-halting-compound-coronaviruses/
  16. Yes, sorry, get his name wrong often enough. I'll correct above. “The Complete Capitol Recordings of Woody Herman” Mosaic Records cd 2 More glorious sound. This band, like the best of the big bands, had a distinct character and charm. And though I encounter many who are not, I’m a fan of Woody’s singing.
  17. Going through this set a second time. 800×800 95.2 KB Disc 2 now, starting off with the fine drumming of George Wettling.
  18. Archie Shepp-Chet Baker Quintet "In Memory Of: first and last meeting Frankfurt and Paris 1988"
  19. Do the eenee meanee minee mo game.
  20. I take it to mean that there have not been a re-presentation of the material of these 'fifties sessions, little of it presented again until now. How accurate that is. . . I'm not sure. A look at the discography on the Mosaic set (easy to do right?) shows yes, though there are three sessions where Hank Jones is the pianist, and three where John Lewis is the pianist.
  21. “It’s so Peaceful In the Country” is a fitting song for me today. A nice change of pace. . . I haven’t listened to June with full orchestra in some time. June Christy “Gone for the Day” Capitol/Universal Japan LP facsimile cd 2022
  22. Starting off the day with some funky swing. Donald Byrd "Mustang" Blue Note Universal Japan UHQCD Great album with McCoy Tyner, Sonny Red and Hank Mobley.
