  1. She is pretty mainstream, a bit more sedate at times than I think I would like, but her writing is interesting and she can play, hires good support. Now On to disc 3 of this excellent new reissue of two Bill Evans albums and many alternates/outtakes. “Haunted Heart: The Legendary Riverside Studio Recordings”
  2. A tiny bit warmer this morning. It’s the time of year when a tiny bit is a bit bigger than months previous. Starting off the day with “Roxy Coss” self-titled, self-released cd This is my second copy as my first copy had a bad skip in the final track, and a visible scuff. So far this copy is perfectly fine; I really do like the music of Ms Coss.
  3. Going further with Bill Evans, always a nice calming thing. This compilation has always impressed me. Bill Evans “Piano Player” Sony Blu-Spec CD2
  4. A bit warmer this morning. Welcome. Still and silent. . . the weekend mornings are quieter as the few neighbors sleep in. Starting off with the interesting box set released yesterday of two Bill Evans Trio (LaFaro and Motian edition) studio LPs released with a ton of alternates and outtakes. In excellent sound. “Haunted Heart: The Legendary Riverside Studio Recordings” Craft/Riverside 3 cd set, discs 1 and 2
  5. Married At First Sight, this season in Austin. Pluribus, have watched the first two episodes so far.
  6. “Douglas Willams 1928-1930, recorded in Memphis, Tennessee” Jazz Oracle cd All Victor sides. Fun stuff.

  8. Eliane Elias "Plays Live" Blue Note cd My copy of this has been missing for a while. I finally found it mixed in with some of Lucinda's cds. One of my favorite of Eliane's releases (I think I have them all!)
  9. Brr. It’s cold out there. Inside it’s nice. Starting off with another great piano trio recording on Muzak Japan cd. Del Ferro on piano, keyboard, and Fender Rhodes, Andre Vasconcellos on acoustic and electric bass, and Marcio Bahia on drums. Mike Del Ferro “Made In Brazil” Samui International/Muzak Japan cd (My copy has a different cover for which I have not found an image).
  10. Some great stuff in there.
  11. I'm amazed at how much they improved the Black Lion material by Webster, Gordon, Griffin, Konitz. . .wow.
  12. Tizian Jost Trio “United in the Big Blue” Enja/Muzak Japan lp facsimile HQCD I bought this one because it was way cheap and I really like the sound of Muzak mastering of cds . . . and it’s quite a nice piano trio date. 300×300 15.5 KB
  13. I’m listening to the 1955 George Wettling material from this box set: Which first appeared on: “George Wettling’s High Fidelity Rhythms” Weathers Industries LP
  14. Cold again, but brighter this morning. All the leaves are almost gone. . . that is a sad sign winter will soon be upon us. Starting off with a Keystone Trio cd on Milestone, “Heartbeats.” This is a trio of masters! John Hicks, bassist George Mraz, and drummer Idris Muhammad. Freddie Cole sings on one track. 300×300 20.9 KB
  15. Re-listening to disc 5 of this fascinating set. Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Vol. 18, “Through the Open Window”
  16. Billie Holliday (with Stomp Gordon) Photo by Michael Ochs
  17. Rusty Bryant “Legends Of Acid Jazz” Prestige cd This cd has two of my favorite jazz guitarists on it, Boogaloo Joe Jones, and Melvin Sparks (not together, each on a separate session). Lifting my mood as it should.
  18. Bob Minzer Big Band “Live at MCG with Special Guest Kurt Elling” McG Jazz cd
  19. I’m getting used to the cold mornings. At least no snow on the horizon for the rest of the week. I started the day with Paula Morelenbaum “Berimbaum”–one of my absolute favorite recordings. It has it all. And then on to one of my favorites in the Toshiba TOCJ 24 bit by RVG series, Pete La Roca “Basra” Awesome band and performances.
  20. "The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions" disc 1 I haven't listened to this set in a long time, and I haven't heard the remix version of "Filles De Kilimanjaro" in a long time. Such a blast from my past.
  21. Leo Parker "Let Me Tell You About It" Blue Note Japan cd UCCQ-9503 80th Anniversary Series Leo Parker (bs) John Birks (tp) Bill Swindell (ts) Youssef Salim (p) Stan Conover (b) Parnell Rice (ds)
  22. Finally getting to sit in front of the stereo after a morning of activity. It’s cold out there! Starting off with John Coltrane, “Dakar,” a session I have always liked produced by Teddy Charles for Prestige, pairing Coltrane with baritone saxophonists Pepper Adams and Cecil Payne, with Mal Waldron, Doug Watkins and Art Taylor. Sounding really good in the mastering from this box set:
  23. I've heard most of the sideman material here and two of the leader dates on other issues--the sound quality is quite good. I imagine that this set will sound quite good, but I have not heard it.
  24. Two David Sanchez discs: “Cultural Survival” Concord Picante cd Followed by “Coral” Columbia SACD
  25. Susannah McCorkle “Sabia” Concord cd Bass – Dennis Irwin Drums – Duduka Fonseca Guitar – Emily Remler Percussion – Café Piano, Arranged By – Lee Musiker Tenor Saxophone – Scott Hamilton A great tour of Brazilian material. One of my favorite Jobim songs is here, "Song of the Sabia" I'll go back, I know now that I'll go back That my place is there And there it will always be There, where I can hear the Song of the Sabia I'll go back, I know now that I'll go back I will lie in the shadow of a palm That's no longer there And pick a flower that doesn't grow And maybe someone's love will speak the night The lonely unwanted light That may bring me to the new day I'll go back, I know now that I'll go back They won't be in vain, all the plans I made To deceive myself All the rules I made just to lose myself All the love I made to forget myself Those mistakes I made just to find myself I'll go back, I know now that I'll go back That my place is there And there it will always be, there where I can hear the Song of the Sabia Of the Sabia
