I have the cd set. My booklet has no issues. . . I would try to get a replacement.

Okay I am re-listening to disc 1 and though I think it may be a stereo recording with a slight bias to the right channel, what I was hearing yesterday was due to a system glitch I guess (I was breaking in a new pair of rectifiers in the Monoblocks and I have new fuses still breaking in). The imbalance between left and right is far less today, close to normal. I was pretty sure if everyone was hearing what I had heard yesterday there would be more comments to that effect. Good news--this is a better recording and better playback than I thought.

I'm listening to the first disc now. I agree mostly with Daniel above. The sound is pretty good as far as hearing each instrument. Perhaps just a tad bright. But rather than mono so far it sounds to me as if it's a badly balanced stereo recording with far to much information in the right channel.

Another very modern recording. Yazz Ahmed "Polyhymnia" Bitchin'! I like all her releases a lot.

Yes, Wonder's tunes were the basis for one of their tours and there is a cd set released of recordings from that tour that is quite good (as always coupled with their own compositions performed on the tour). I think I have all the SFJazz Collective releases now and I really enjoy them.

I wanted to hear a modern jazz recording and there are few more modern than this one, SFJazz Collective "Wonder: The Songs of Stevie Wonder." Not their usual live tour recording but a studio effort, and a good one.

Donald Byrd "At the Half Note Cafe, Vol. 1" Blue Note Japan 24bit by RVG cd. What a night that would be to experience at the Half Note!

I now have both the Japanese and the US versions and I was very surprised that the US RSD version sounds better than the UHQCD version from Japan. Just a bit more than subtly different. If one heard the Japanese alone one might have more reason to be dissatisfied with the sound. But yes, this sounds better than other versions of some of it that I have heard.

"Jazz Tones" Buddy DeFranco Universal Japan Verve cd UCCU-8214, reissues the 2003 master. Another great session with Sonny Clark on piano.

Fernanda Cunha "Jobim 90" . . . . I keep returning to this one, it just has this great vibe and nice playing in service of great compositions. And Cunha has a very relaxed delivery that suits the material so well.
