  1. Dexter Gordon "Homecoming" Columbia cd 2 From the Complete Columbia Albums box set.
  2. "The Tubby Hayes Orchestra" from the Fontana box set.
  3. My copy is out for delivery, a day earlier than the shipping notice indicated.
  4. Listened to disc 4 (with Gordon Beck on board) and disc 13 from this newly released box set on the way to and from my Dad's. Nucleus "Live at the BBC" 13 cd box set.
  5. The Music of William Parker -- Migration of Silence into and out of the Tone World, disc 8 "Lights in the Rain" Deodato's arrangements make the difference for me.
  6. Dizzy Gillespie & Friends "Concert of the Century -- A Tribute to Charlie Parker" Solid Records Japan cd Moody, Jackson, Jones, Brown and Jones! BE-BOP 1980!
  7. The Barry Harris Trio, "Break-in' it Up" Argo Universal Japan 2021 cd using 2002 master.
  8. I'm reasonably certain he and his school are mentioned, though probably not as much as you would like. (My copy is in storage, and I haven't picked it up for some time. . . I read the book when first published).
  9. I'm compelled to mention this one. One of the jazz books that most impressed me.
  10. Stanley Turrentine "Salt Song" CTI Supreme Blu-Spec CD Japan
  11. It's been some time since I have played this one and I wanted to hear the lush strings reproduced so well here. This was the first work I heard from Ms Possi. . . and it made me a fan! Zizi Possi "Per Amore"
  12. Re-listening this morning to this half of the Rushing cd. What a band, and Jimmy is having fun. Jimmy Rushing "Rushing Lullabys" Columbia cd
  13. Jimmy Rushing "Rushing Lullabys" Columbia cd Also contains his album "Little Jimmy and the Big Brass" which is presented first on the cd. Love Mr. Five by Five and these are two of his best.
  14. I bought myself one box set for Christmas: the Nucleus at the BBC set. My best friend gave me a gift certificate which I turned into two Marvel Omnibus editions I have wanted: the "Suspense" stories (pre-superhero Atlas and Marvel) of Steve Ditko. His work during this time period just amazes me.
  15. I decided I have to like this cd because my wife plays it over and over starting at Thanksgiving on the Bose CD player I got her because she refuses to learn how to operate the living room stereo. I put this on and two minutes later my dachshund Fiona is out like a light. It's actually not bad, the piano and harp and guitar are recorded well, and the playing is very understated and melodic.
  16. I think one of the Real Gone ones.
  17. Yes, fascinating music--Mosaic did the world a great service releasing those 3 sets!
  18. Hi my friend, happy holidays. I truly love the music in these three sets. Just transporting to another time and place and mood-influencing juicy goodness.
  19. Agreed, I have that and both LP and cd versions of the two original releases.
  20. "Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington recording Together for the First Time" Roulette/WEA Japan cd. This sounds better than an LP copy I have. I wish these sessions had gone on and on.
  21. June Tyson "The Saturnian Queen of the Sun Ra Orchestra" cd She made a great recruiting agent for Outer Spaceways Incorporated. Nice compilation cd! Five tracks are previously unissued.
  22. The lovely Linda Sharrock, "Like a River" from 1994. This album is sort of a trip. A nice one. A fusion of jazz, world music, R&B. . . her unique blend.
