  1. Learned of this one via the PS Audio forum. Quite nice! This Canadian singer is new to me, but she has a lovely voice and singing that makes me think of Blossom Dearie and Karrin Allison. Nice bossa nova with electric guitar, vibes and violin featured nicely. Some nice singing in French as well. Diana Panton, "To Brazil with Love"
  2. One sold, bumping up.
  3. Thanks for the headsup. I have been intrigued by this label and at these price points I ordered all the ones that reference the Cleveland area. I can share these with my brothers too who have been here through the seventies and eighties and may enjoy them.
  4. Yes I know about it. My father literally wrote the book. https://www.amazon.com/Organs-America-life-David-Tannenberg/dp/B0006BRJS4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Organs+for+America+William+H.+Armstrong&qid=1592499136&s=books&sr=1-1 I've heard several of these in person. My Mom and aunts were honored at the dedication ceremony for the rebuilt organ at Salem.
  5. He name was David Tannenberg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Tannenberg This organ is in Salem, NC. Restored this century. Our member Pete B was married in a Moravian chapel where there is a Tannenberg organ.
  6. Listening to music on an organ built by my great great great great great grandfather. ]
  7. Jacques Morelenbaum and CelloSam3aTrio "Suadade do Futuro, Futuro do Saudade" I'll listen to anything with Jacques and/or his beautiful wife on it.
  8. I've gone all the way through Ullyses. A masterwork. I've attempted Finnegan's Wake. I've never gotten too far.
  9. I love it myself!
  10. The program seems to be dormant. Apparently an '80s set was planned and maybe worked on and then for some reason. . . kiboshed. Word came out that the series isn't ended but there's no news as to when it will recommence.
  11. Barney Wilen "Live in Tokyo '91" disc 2
  12. I actually like that cover. But then I'm weird. Looking forward to it.
  13. "on the tender spot of every calloused moment" Ambrose Akinmusire I'm really divided about this one. I do like the playing of the piano trio supporting him, as with his previous two cd live release. . . and just like that I'm not that enamoured of the trumpeting or compositions. Sound is pretty good. . . an interesting first listen if not my cup of tea.
  14. Agreed. This and its predecessor are wonderful recordings. Now playing Lee Konitz "On Harvard Square" Black Lion From this 2 cd collection from Muzak Japan
  15. I just love this one. Very late Jobim, selections by other Brazilian songwriters he recorded for an excellent series of cds produced in Brazil featuring Brazilian artists performing the songbooks of Brazilian composers. All Jobim's contributions to the series are collected here. Lovely music. Tom Jobim "My Soul Sings"
  16. Joe Henderson "Lush Life: the Music of Billy Strayhorn"
  17. This was my first thought seeing this thread. I am glad Milestone listed it. I love it.
  18. I bought the Dexter Gordon Montmartre Cafe material in this series as well as the Thelonious Monk Black Lion material in this series and love the sound. So I ordered this one and it arrived today. Wow. This is some of my favorite Konitz which I only have on very early dull sounding cds and this is a real improvement. Lee Konitz At Storyville/At Harvard Square/Konitz (Japanese paper sleeve edition) Storyville/Muzak (Japan 2 cd set)
  19. Miles Davis "Water Babies" Columbia/Sony CD (from the Complete Columbia Albums box set). I used to play in fire hydrants in Phladelphia as a kid in the summer. One of the neighbors would come along with a monkey wrench and open it up and kids, black and white, from the blocks about would run to cavort in the water and sail popsickle boats down the gutters. And in about an hour the City guys would show up and turn it off. The hydrant was just at the end of my block. This would happen about five times a summer. When I hear the RMI pianos playing on side two I'm taken back to the trailer of one of my friends in the 'seventies where he had one of these distinctive sounding pianos and I would fool around with it. Followed by Joe Henderson "Double Rainbow" Verve cd Jobim. . . and Joe. . .these are a few of my favorite things.
  20. Finished re-reading: Started to re-read:
  21. "Fred Hersch Plays Monk" Followed by Candice Hoyes "On a Turquoise Cloud," which is quite nice. The lovely Ms Hoyes sings the way Ellington liked his singers, does a credible Kaye Davis wordless vocal or three, and reminds me in many places of Alice Babs, a good thing.
  22. The cd is expanded, a good thing.
  23. Claudia Villela with Kenny Werner "Dreamtales"
