Orchestre National de Jazz/Laurent Cugny "Yesternow" Wasn't easy to get but worth the search
-
Well, I like a lot of the Xmas album. The accompaniment on that is great music! But the Sinatra albums are much better in my opinion. I enjoy the first most.

I'm not a Sintra fan but I lioke those albums. Just pre-ordered the new one ... 2 cd version shown on amazon.

Claudia Villela with Ricardo Peixoto "InverseUniverse" . . . I have neglected this one too long, very nice recording, really mellow and intriguing music. Followed by Pharoah Sanders "Africa" Timeless Japan cd. It just seemed right after the above. And I was going to put this back on the shelves but had to listen to it again. Such good Paul Gonsalves features!

Duke Ellington "Jazz Party in Stereo" Mobile Fidelity gold cd. Absolutely gorgeous sound, music I've loved for decades.
-
Duke Ellington and his Orchestra "Featuring Paul Gonsalves" Fantasy Records/OJC cd This has some astonishing tenor playing.

Gabor Szabo "The Rambler" CTI (50th Anniversary King cd, Japan) Parts of this sound like a contemporaneous Grateful Dead record!

Miles Davis - Complete Sessions available again
jazzbo replied to barnaba.siegel's topic in Re-issues
Actually sambrasa I personally think that the sound on the Japanese set is a bit better than the American. The one disc less is the result of some editing out of a few parts of solos or solos here and there, in that particular night there was just enough trimmed that both sets fit on one cd. I reach for the Japanese set for nostalgic reasons too. I did everything I could to get a copy when this was first released and though my local store assured me they and I were getting copies, it did not happen and I never was able to secure one. Years later the second version of this set was reissued in Japan on gold cd and I was able to get one. I really like. the look and feel of the set and the sound. And the music. . . wow. . . the music. I find I don't mind or miss the edited version. I don't stream at all or use any files. I buy new material on recommendations of forum denizens or just my decades long homegrown instincts, and taking a risk is sort of fun! Streaming. . . for me not fun. And with so so many discs I haven't really a need. -
You didn't miss anything.

Yes, it only makes sense for them to do this at some point. . . to me. But then I'm a disc addict. The rest of the word has quickly moved on. I'm glad I have both the US and Japanese cd sets, I like them both a lot and this music has been an important part of my listening world for some time. -

I don't mean to be disparaging to Blues for Bartok, I just don't know that he's connected to the milesdavis.com or Sony and I still haven't seen any confirmation of this from those sources. It does seem probable. But in this age of BS I'm a bit more demanding of facts. -

OK.. .if you want to trust B4B as official. . . maybe, I don't know. Doesn't matter to me but I've seen no confirmation from the source. Hope those who want these get them! I have enjoyed these sets for years! -

That's possible, even probable. No official word one way or another. -
One Silver led to another (easily accomplished as they share a slimline double case as discs do often in my collection). Horace Silver "That Healin' Feelin'." Andy Bey! God I love Andy Bey, a wonderful artist. The time is now for that healing feeling!
-
Horace Silver "Serenade to a Soul Sister" Blue Note 24 bit by RVG Japan cd.

"Sweet Sucker Dance" Joni Mitchell lyrics (to Mingus composition) I almost closed the door Cancelled on everything we opened up for Tonight the shadows had their say Their sad notions of the way Things really are Damn these blues! They'd turn my heart against you Since I was fool enough To find romance I'm trying to convince myself This is just a dance! We move in measures Through loves' changing faces Needy and nonchalant Greedy and gracious Through petty dismissals And grand embraces Like it was only a dance! We are survivors Some get broken Some get mended Some can't surrender They're too well defended Some get lucky Some are blessed And some pretend This is only a dance! We're dancing fools You and me Tonight it's a dance of insecurity It's my solo While you're away Shadows have the saddest thing to say Love We can't live without it Why do we go out and get it Just to turn around and doubt it LIke we're scared to care It's hard to talk about it Aw--it's only a dance Tonight the shadows had their say There's a sucker born a day I heard them say Born to lose Am I a sucker to love you? You're such a sweet love You're a proud man You're a treasure Time passes gracefully Living can be such a pleasure You make it easy to take it in measures Like it was only a dance! We're dancing fools You and me Tonight it's a dance of insecurity It's my solo Blue way And shadows have the saddest things to say We are survivors Some get broken Some get mended Some can't surrender They're too well defended Some get lucky Some are blessed And some pretend It's only a dance!

Wanted to go out of my listening week with a bang (usually don't get much time in on the weekend) so. . . Cannonball Adderley Quintet "In San Francisco" Keepnews Collection cd. Very lively sound and great playing! Followed by Miles Davis "Four+More" Mobile Fidelity SACD. Timeless music. I've bought this and owned this too many times. . . LPs, cassettes, domestic and Japanese cds, and this SACD just slays all i've had before. BOOM. Great sound. And those Tony Williams drum solos!
