  1. Sun Ra “Pathways to Unknown Worlds” Modern Harmonic cd A 1975 Sun Ra recording. This is about as far as I go with Ra in general. In the right mood . . . I’m almost there. . . it’s a fun listen. This was one of the Ra releases on ABC/Impulse originally.

  7. I know. I get blowback and some disdain often enough mentioning anything audio around here. . . It's a different mix with subtly differing instrumental and vocal balances--I'll limit my comments to that.

  11. I've been listening to the discs in order, twice each, up to disc IV. All this Vanguard material is familiar to me, and I LOVE it, but the sound here is TOPS.
  12. Happy holidays everyone! Right now, a quiet and cold morning out by the woods. Just heard turkeys across the road in the forst, and saw three young deer in our driveway. Starting off with: “Classic Vanguard Small Group Swing Sessions” Mosaic Records, disc IV Wonderful Buck Clayton led material. Wow, the sound of that hall!

Starting off with Dave Brubeck Quartet “Concord on a Summer Night” Concord Records cd Clarinet – Bill Smith Drums – Randy Jones Guitar, Bass Trombone, Electric Bass – Chris Brubeck Piano – Dave Brubeck Recorded at the Concord Pavilion, on August 8th, 1982 I’m enjoying hearing Bill Smith with Dave Brubeck again, and Chris Brubeck is “on.”
