Woke up to more snow. . . over 12" in the last 36 hours, and about 4 inches more to shovel since I last did. Will need to do so in a few hours before meeting in-laws for breakfast. This is an essential set for me as well, even though I believe I have all the material previously. I really enjoy these recordings, think they are excellently captured, and am looking forward to this set and seeing many discover the music with enthusiasm (I'm pretty sure this will occur).

No that's true, I only ever saw him four years ago. My wife has been in the store about ten times since then I bet, and she's . . . memorable. She may have mentioned my love of jazz and audio a few times since then, I'm unsure. But the guy is a canny businessman. . .I've seen him take notes while on the phone, and he's knowledgable about curios and folk art. . . he's managed to keep a shop in a small town open for over 25 years, no small feat these days. Besides the Ellington I also got a Jazztone sampler 10"-- a Wild Bill Davis Epic 10" and 12" --Benny Golson "Killer Joe," "Chico Hamilton Trio" on Pacific Jazz and a Billy Eckstine 10" on Emarcy, and Johnah Jones "Muted Jaszz" on Capitol.. About four years ago accompanying my wife to one of her favorite antique/junk shops one of the owners told me he sometimes gets in jazz records as my wife told him I was into jazz. So four years later he calls me up and says he got about 50 jazz records in. I went to take a look. A lot of the “jazz” was Boots Randolph type stuff, and big band legacy dance records, but I did find 8 that I picked up 3 for 10 dollars. Since I could get 1 more to make 9 I picked up a Barbra Streisand that my wife wanted because it had a cute photo of Barbra as a kid on the cover. This was about 3 weeks ago. In that time I have been looking on and off for the SpinClean fluid that I had in the kitchen before our remodel, and never have found where my wife stashed it when we cleared out the old kitchen. So I finally caved and ordered a new bottle (which was part of amazon’s Black Friday sale!) They all needed cleaning BIG TIME but cleaned up pretty well. The first I’m playing is one of four that the guy said “no one will want because they probably have nothing to play them on” as he thought they were 78s. What they were though were 10" LPs, 33 1/3 rpm. “Duke’s Mixture” Columbia 10" LP. I’ve known of this, heard all the music, but never saw one in the flesh.
