This night was a hot one! Didn’t sleep as well as I’d like but 's alright. Starting off with a disc I’ve neglected long enough, Horace Tapscott “Dark Tree,” the second disc.

With my wife I've been re-watching (her case, for the first time these seasons for me) Project Runway Seasons 1 through 4 so far. By myself, started the new season of Star Trek: Strange Worlds.

Warm and humid morning after some early morning rain. Feeling a bit sticky and sad. Miss my little dachshund audio companion some mornings more than others. Starting off with a new arrival, the King Jazz CTI “Alltime Collection” George Benson/Joe Farrell “Benson & Farrell” CTI Japan cd. A smooth selection to ease into the day.

I like the work with his brother and with Bu and am glad he became a success. My youngest brother was playing trumpet in band when he broke out onto the radio and he was inspired to improve and keep playing and became (with a little help from my record collection) a jazz fan and still keeps his lip in some shape to this day--and Chuck and the Blackbyrds are largely responsible.

Who knows. They put it out so they haven't orphaned it at least. Most who would want it have had it for over a decade!

Kenny Burrell “On View at the Five Spot” 24 Bit by RVG Blue Note Japan lp facsimile cd. Although the new SHM-SACD and cd versions of this sound fantastic, I still really like the sound of this Japanese RVG cd.

Malo “Evolution” Warner Bros. LP The third LP of Carlos’ broter Jorge Santana’s band. I stumbled across their first LP about 1973 and bought the first two, then this third one, then the others. I like this band!

Kurt Elling “This Time It’s Love” Blue Note cd Another one of the great collaborations between Kurt and Laurence Hobgood. And such wonderful songs.

I had to play this one again. . . especially to hear the great tune "Everything Happens to Me" so well interpreted.

Tom Harrell “Live at the Village Vanguard” RCA cd Back to jazz! This is a fine ablum, Tom’s first live one as a leader. Great working band! Tom Harrell – trumpet Jimmy Greene – tenor saxophone Xavier Davis – piano Ugonna Okegwo – bass Quincy Davis – drums

Sly & The Family Stone “There’s a Riot Goin’ On” Epic/Legacy cd This digipak has gathered dust for some time. . . a very influential album and a real time travel for me. Sounding as I don’t think it ever has with the system as it is now. . . a clarity and depth is present that really helps this somewhat imperfect recording. 300×295 9.98 KB

Survived a hot night. . . putting up with the sound of the window unit was a necessity. Getting excited about the 50th Anniversary releases of “Blues for Allah” coming up in September, which has led me to put on this finely recorded live version of the material. . . . Grateful Dead “One from the Vault” disc 1
