The last shipment I received had 13 items and I went with FedEx International (three days from Japan to Ohio) and it cost 3500 Yen. As I had about ten dollars in "points" to apply it was quite reasonable for me. The slower options are cheaper, probably about 2700 for Air Mail and 2000 or so for "slow boat from China" shipping.
I love cdjapan and have had zero problems using them over the years.
Those were just released in Japan today. I pre-ordered some, I expect I'll have them in a week or so. My guess is old transfers, not new ones from the SHM-CD series. Many (most?) of the titles were not in that series.
I've heard a lot of the shows from all the years. . . I just don't dig Midland or Hornsby or any of the musicians after Keith and Donna, and I just don't really enjoy the 'eighties material, etc. There's so much 'sixties and 'seventies to listen to one can easily just swim in those decades when you want a Dead or Jerry fix.
Me too. . . but I'm hungry for anything from the first three years or so. . . they probably have some stuff they can whip out. . . there's probably not much demand for the earliest stuff though, but I find that stuff fascinating.
I've listened to Club Date, Meditations, First Meditations, Living Space, Jupiter Variations, Vista, Three for Shepp, Point of Departture, Gypsy '66, Spellbinder, Karma. . . all sound very good and are far from "loud."
That's the one I'd be interested in. I'm also interested in getting the Japanese issue of the Verve "Basie's Beat" on cd. Anyone know of a site in English where both of these could be ordered?

CDJapan is a good source and nicely in English. But they don't show Basie's Beat available at the moment. You can pre-order "String Along with Basie."
The one I associate this song with is Ivie Anderson featured with the Ellington Orchestra. She owns it and I would say her version is compatible with Hank's in a way.
