Many happy returns!

No, not a single problem with any disc.

I just finished the seventh and final season of The Shield. What a tremendously gripping show. I should not have snoozed so long on that. Amazon has the complete series for thirty bucks. . . that'a bargain.

Well, I believe my brothers have seen plenty shades of gray as well, but both are involved in law areas and their positions within the area (labor for a private firm the one, housing as attorney for the city the other) that their main focus is on the legality or illegality of the situation they are working on and within. And they both have a pretty firm grounding in my Dad's preacherly judgmental (less extreme now than when we were of formative ages) perspective.

The film is okay, but I really enjoy the album itself, Lost on the River. I thought some of the songs were excellent, all were at least interesting, and it made me a fan of Rhiannon Giddens.

Some decent prices on amazon.

True, but there's new bits each time. I just skip over threads I've seen too much of.

I know, but I still find the discussions fascinating to an extent. I have a similar fascination within my own family. My Dad is a (retired, but not really) minister. Things are either RIGHT or WRONG. My two brothers are lawyers and things are either LEGAL, or ILLEGAL. Most fascinating of all is my sister who is a physical therapist, not a preacher or lawyer, who has the strongest set of moral standards of them all and the most judgmental. Personally, I'm a "black and white is really gray" person more and more, well, more like sepia tone I guess. I see both sides often and land on not just one side. I like to see the different sides discussed here.

It's a really interesting topic. I mean all the people I liked in the small Ohio town I ended up in in the 'seventies were doing one sort of illegal drug or another. I knew they were illegal. I chose to do some of them myself, knowing full well I was breaking the law and was a criminal. Did I think the laws were right? For the most part no. But I did know I was in danger of prosecution and punishment. I couldn't go to the only drug store or the only grocer or the only convenience store in town and buy them. I had to rely on criminals to obtain them. There was a thrill involved, but also a paranoia developing that didn't add any joy or excitement. Here in the US these releases in question are supposed to be illegal. But I can click a selection on line and buy one from the biggest of retailers. And I can walk into a store and buy one. And I don't feel in danger or under surveillance or an illicit tingle of dangerous excitement. And there are some stores that won't carry them. And there are some that the big stores don't carry because perhaps the estate of the artist or the artist are vigilant and vocal and litigious. A weird blend! Pychicemotus!

I think we might see Diana again. And there's talk on Hoffman board that photos have surfaced of Don on the California coast. Partly this reinforces a feeling I had earlier that Don was going to go back to see if Megan and he had another chance in them. But we'll see. Two more episodes! I've liked the languid pace of this "season."

Glad you enjoyed it. I went to the meet up where they played the Grateful Dead Movie back when I was in Austin. The sound in the theater was AWFUL. Edgy, bright, thin, all the worst aspects of digital sound. I had a much better experience watching the DVD or Blu-ray at home. Kept me away from future viewings.

I'm quite happy with the whole mechanical process of groove/needle/cartridge etc. Often gives me the best sound as far as "ease" and relaxation.

CDJapan shows it for a July 1 release.

Agreed. Nice rekkid!

There is a thread by the author on Steve Hoffman Forum. Yes, "Bitches Brew Live" was audio only. For sure CD's aren't as important as they're two decades back, but... how about all those "Complete Sessions" boxes? Jack Johnson - 2003, OOP. Cellar Door - 2005, OOP. On The Corner - 2007, OOP (I feel like writing about KIA soldiers...). Not to mention a mammoth Bitches Brew set from 2013, which is now having a re-release in 4CD form. So the logic dictates that further boxes would also be out of print pretty fast. There must be a reason that all of those Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton's and other rock stars have epic super deluxe editions. I know it's a dream, but a box set inspired by King Crimson's "Road to Red" would be an amazing thing. I'd love to see oodles of cds too, and I think we'll still see some, though those sets were mostly before 2010 and the world after 2010 in the CD market is very different. Also to expect Miles Davis to get the same sort of treatment that Zeppelin and Crimson do. . . as much as we love him, his selling power is lower down the totem pole. Also. . the Zep and Crim releases have heavy band/artist involvement in both possibly a catalyst and a consultant role. The estate seems to be more of a hindrance than a help, and Miles is only with us in spirit. And maybe more with us in spirit than with the estate!

Maybr 30 years so far?

Saw Blue with John in Chicago, which was taped for a TV concert show. Way back when when I was 19 or so. Memories. Ohio Players were also on their own stage. And my late wife was there too (with someone else). I remember the music as being very good.
