  1. Aaron, I don't think you'll have any taxes to worry about. Should go smooth. Texas mail is okay. I had things shipped to me from Europe and Japan etc. while living in Austin. No problems.
  2. Someone else's opinion: http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/June-2010/Best-Chicago-Novels-Books/ From this list "The Man with the Golden Arm" and "Native Son" stand out from my own reading.
  3. Finishing up NBC's "Allegiance" on Demand. Not a great show, but fun in its way. And I could watch Margarita Levieva all day long.
  4. Re-reading this fascinating book. One of the three biographies of Krishnamurti that I've read and enjoyed.
  5. No, I'm not thinking of youmustbe.
  6. I think his posts were some time ago deleted. IIRC he was "indno" . . (in the know).
  7. Hope it arrived Greg. A friend of mine (trumpeter Dave Laczko) got set #2! I have been all the way through this set, with each disc getting stuck in my transport for a while. I love the sound. I think I have all this stuff here and there and the material sounds great here.
  8. I THINK you'll get them before you leave but it's been ages since i used the cheapest methods and I've read it can take longer. I usually do airmail or FedEx International Priority. Air Mail can somtimes take two weeks. I use my points to defray higher shipping charges.
  9. Bye Bob. Thanks for all the great music.
  10. Welcome Aaron! Thanks for the information.
  11. Sad news. Bob has been like a friend, and I'm just a year older. Bruce I don't know, but so sorry to hear of this. My best wishes to their families and friends.
  12. Thanks for the report. I have three cds upcoming on May 20 in my order so I'm a week or so away from hearing my batch. Something to look forward to!
  13. I agree with that sentiment.
  14. Right, forgot about those. All this material is in the Mosaic Select.
  15. I once suggested a complete recordings of Babs Gonzales box set on Mosaic to Mr. Cuscuna. His response to me was "YOU MUST BE OUT OF YOUR MIND!" which I thought was appropriate.
  16. Yes, he appears on "Soul Stirrin'" and wrote the title tune.
  17. I knew it was Mitch, looking rather Djangoesque in that photo. I don't know what DSM was thinking. . . or if he was.
  18. Series Finale for Mad Men. Interesting. Not what I expected, nothing wrong with that. Been watching this fluffy entertaining series on Blu-ray. Watched part of it on broadcast, but El Rey comes in with a crappy standard def pic on my cable, and the series looks so much better on disc. This is one of the few vampire/horror story lines I've ever really liked, and the series fleshes it out in watchable ways for me. Plus. . . there's Eisa Gonzalez. Season Two to start later this year.
  19. No weirder than Django playing oboe!
  20. More like scruff and shadows than a beard perhaps?
  21. They must have remastered the whole thing, which may be a good thing. . . Seth Foster is listed as the engineer in the allmusic.com listing.
  22. That Chronogical is killer. Buy whatever you can find.
  23. That link appears active for me. That is Dao Strom, a winner of the Nelson Algren Short Story Award. The writer of the article is the one who claims to have worked for Larry, and was one of the judges who awarded Dao Strom the prize. As far as I can tell the writer of the article is only referred to as "d g". . . . I think it's Douglas Glover.
