  1. Whatever Scott, I said that because I expected some of your usual shit, and I got it from another angle, sure wasn't disappointed. Have fun feeling all superior like with your "know it all" negative, cynical knowledge. (Which makes me chuckle). I'm done trying to be on a thread with you.
  2. Profound disdain? I have stated I had tired of headphones and didn't intend to use them. Now I have a need for headphones to extend possible listening sessions, and so I bought a pair, gosh have you ever had a changing need and accommodated it.? I did audition three other pairs, of varying price points. Two expensive ones were recommended to me by another user of the same headphone amp/preamp that I have, and I auditioned them. Two pairs were less expensive. I liked the Oppos best of the four. They weren't the most expensive, but they weren't one of the two cheaper pairs. I have money in the bank, and spent it, because I liked them, they really were just right for me. I'd have bought cheaper ones had they been just right for me. I mentioned they were expensive because they are. Figured someone was going to tell me they were if I didn't mention it. I'm at a place in my life at the moment where I can afford quality of sound and don't have to agonize over a price tag. I bought the best of four I auditioned. I don't see how that makes me some sort of elitist. Was a time I respected your opinion on many things but I no longer do on audio matters. You make sweeping generalizations and put on superior airs about things which I happen to have diverging personal opinions of and feel I may have an opinion more informed by experience. I'll just remain silent as best as I can from now on, and do my best to ignore your misconceptions about me and audio in general.
  3. Amen Paul. Scott, you're off base with me, I don't believe in throwing money at audio and often find less expensive things to sound better. Your analogy is flawed too, I don't "believe" things so much as remain open to my own experience, trust my own experience and judgment, and don't believe any absolute truths. But it makes you feel superior to have this "certainty" lording it over others. Cool, I don't care. I"m done responding to your narrow view.
  4. So untrue but whatever, I long ago discounted any of the closed-minded things you say about audio.
  5. I strongly disagree, based on my own experience, but know better than to argue with those who are "certain" about these things any longer. I've noticed a very clear difference between every speaker cable I've used, not tied to price. And I'm very happy with the synergy between that I am using now and my other components compared to those I've used previously. And being happy with what we are using to listen to music with is the name of the game.
  6. She was amazing and unique.
  7. Maybe for the "Holiday" aspect?
  8. One other factor is that when many of these sets were first released they contained material new to CD. In the intervening years many if not most of this material has appeared (both in legit and illicit editions) on CD. That has perhaps diminished the interest in some sets. Also much of the Blue Note and other material has appeared in (perhaps, opinions are so varied) better sounding editions since outside of the Mosaic sets. The recent SHM-CD series in particular has brought some great sounding sessions to the marketplace that were once only in a Mosaic set or rarely outside of one.
  9. Many happy returns!
  10. Two old song titles I like: I Meet my Sweetie at Two to Two Today My Sweet Tooth Says Yes but my Wisdom Tooth Says No
  11. Cool bike. I'd kill myself on that thing. I like slow heavy bikes. Hope you get to ride this season. (Wow, riding season. . . a concept I didn't have in Texas when I rode year round).
  12. I remember RVG quoted as saying that Coltrane's "Lush Life" material was the favorite of his recordings. I dig that piano sound.
  13. Watching "Humans." Promising new show! Very Phil Dickian.
  14. So wanted to watch the premier of "Humans" (AMC) this morning but didn't have time to watch it all and didn't want to only watch two-thirds of it. Will watch it this afternoon. Looks great! Yesterday I watched two episodes of the goofy sixth season of "Nash Bridges."
  15. Many happy happy returns!
  16. Sad news indeed. He'll be missed!
  17. I'm moving and in my new location I'll be able to listen more if I also have a headphone setup. So I did some research and decided on a pair of Oppo PM-1 phones. Not cheap but the sound is just right for me.
  18. I think 'The Good Wife' is better. Currently watching season 5. I like The Good Wife a lot, but it's going downhill imo and Hannibal has such incredible production it's almost in a class of its own in TVland.

  20. I got 20 right. . . and then my phone rang, I had to take it. Anyway, 20 is pretty good! They were getting harder and harder.
  21. Two different legs of the same body, not necessarily in sync, not coordinating their efforts very well together. There is a lot of discussion of the LPs on the Hoffman board. Not all are "created equally". . . some pressings are very good, others not at all. Seems European pressings are good if I recall correctly. Details are there to be sifted through.
  22. Happy birthday my friend! And many many more happy returns!
