Thank goodness it got cool enough to just run a fan to pull air out last night. . . about 60 degrees when I awoke this morning. Ah! Another disc from the Grateful Dead “Enjoying the Ride” box set. . . now Fillmore East, New York, NY (4/25/71) disc 2 320×219 15.5 KB Some good Pigpen in this set, and Jerry is riding along a carpet of great drumming.

OK. I don't think I'll find that to be honest. I sat through the whole thing waiting, looking for that, to no good effect.

Johnny Windhurst! Right now After enjoying the Blu-Spec CD2 of this release a few times recently I realized this was one of the few Miles releases i didn’t have in the LP facsimile versions that Sony put out so I ordered, and received, this SBM version, Sony SRCS 9323~4. I like the sound of this series of discs, and in listening they bring me a warm nostalgic feeling of when I was first really into collecting Japanese releases.

It just seems like "heart beat tempo" noodling that went on when I was in bands goofing around in practices in my then garage apartment in the 'eighties. . . holds little interest for me. Now Jefferson Airplane “After Bathing at Baxter’s” Culture Family cd 300×300 10.8 KB

“Jazz Conversations: The Other Side of Monday Michiru” Toshiko Akiyoshi with her daughter Monday Michiru. An excellent album spoiled a bit by the “loudness/compression” mastering.

My wife decided to be up early and listen with me on this somewhat stuff morning. Started off with Eliane Elias “Time and Again” on Candid cd . . . the new “innovation” here is many more mult-tracked Elias voices to form a chorus . . . interesting. . .she’s done this before but more prevalent here. Also, all tunes are originals by Elias and her husband Marc Johnson. And then on to Ruby Braff “For the Last Time” Arbors Jazz 2 cd, disc 2. Sad to know this was his last recorded performance, but it’s a good one–Scott Hamilton was a great front line partner for him, and John Bunch is a fine pianist.

Tim Warfield “A Cool Blue” Criss Cross cd This is a great quintet, and the arrangement here of “Summertime” is like none I’ve heard before–I really like it.

A nice warm morning, and I decided to leave this disc in the transport and repay it. The dynamics in the system are on full display, and this disc plays back percussion in a way I’ve never experienced it before. Herbie Hancock “Gershwin’s World” Verve SACD

Someone should grab this . . . it's an excellent set of music. I like this far more than I thought I would when I purchased when first released. -

Immanuel Wilkins “Blues Blood” Blue Note cd My fourth time listening to this work. Fascinating is perhaps the best description of my continuing reaction. Very well-engineered also. 400×400 1

Not my experience. (I think I've mentioned it thrice perhaps, and felt it many times over the years). Glad to be wrong and glad it is not felt that way by others.
