  1. Yes, that one is great. Maybe it will come out now. I have a few others of hers, she always is worth hearing.
  2. Wouldn't it be nice if all discs were mastered optimally? I got in the Ornette and the two Miles volumes, and pre-ordered a half a dozen of the next batch. Listened to the Ornette, NICE.
  3. Opposite Worlds. Syfy. A hoot.
  4. Wherever you are, hope it was a great day.
  5. RIP Beautiful Alice.
  6. Good catch! Yes, that's a good one. . Jimmy Rowles!
  7. No, I don't think so. This is one to build up to. Surely you have 'Something Else'? I think that 'Portrait of Cannonball' on Riverside is a great record and perhaps a good start. And depending on how you feel about Lateef, 'Nippon Soul' on Riverside might be another good entryway. I love both these albums.
  8. Good news! Way to go Bastids!
  9. Hope it was a great one!
  10. I got in "Living Space." I would wager the same engineer as "Stellar Regions." Enjoying revisiting it.
  11. Boss, Season 2 Sanaa Lathon is in the cast now!
  12. Wow, so that's Bebop!
  13. Stuart, I think it might have been March 21 at first. Almost six weeks. I'll be ready. Japan has March 26 as the release date of the Blu-Spec 2 version, I have that on order as well, as the Blu-Spec 2 cds of Agharta, Pangaea and three Sade titles have so impressed me. I've waited for the official release of this material so long that I splurged to get the Blu-Spec 2.
  14. Is it release day yet?
  15. I would suggest getting those you can from cdjapan. They are an excellent company to deal with. You can pay a bit more for extremely fast delivery or less for slower delivery. They have a good selection right now. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/search3.html?r=ALL&q=Prestige+SHM-CD&media=NONE&cur=0
  16. Naxos (originally I swear I saw it was ESP Disk) is putting out a three cd set of Birdland '53 tracks.
  17. No, they have the original album length and sound for the most part. They sound incredible.
  18. I had it ordered from cdjapan. They didn't cancel it but gave me the "long time to find"message so I got one from ebay.
  19. Well it's your opinion that they're among the greatest. That's cool. It's not my opinion, that's what remains with me.
  20. Interesting. See I used to be a drummer and I own two drum kits, and I'm familiar with both Hamid and Hans' work. . . and they really don't interest me that much. And I LOVE jazz. Which just indicates to me that if the interest isn't there, there's no draw towards "supporting" the music. I'm not interested in Katy Perry enough to buy tickets to see her or buy her cds. Same with Hamid Drake and Hans Bennink.
  21. Well I wish I could get out to see these guys. I can't even get out for a cup of coffee most days, just my situation. Plus, these guys are NOT playing anywhere near me. Anyway best of luck to them all, and you and Steve.
  22. Okay David, I see that to a point. But if there is scant interest in a new offshoot of an established art for instance lack of interest in the market (listeners, buyers of tickets or recordings) does define it if that interest is so small that the offshoot cannot grow or disappears. Anyway, I confess to respecting the artists on Steve's list but not feeling that interested in their music.
  23. I'd also like to say that. Well said Bev.
  24. Holy cow, the Blu-Spec 2 cds of "Agharta" and "Pangaea" have blown me away!
