  1. I've never been to one of his concerts. I have most of his recorded material. I'm a fan of his music and don't pay attention to the rest. Unlike most of my family, I've never been one to chronicle my life in pictures. Perhaps it's because I don't have kids, but snapping endless photos of the most mundane actions just seems like a waste of time to me, and I don't click on most of the images and links to facebook pages etc. I get sent with photos. Life is way too short.
  2. Hi Kevin, I think it's a very nice set, there are some pianists here that were new to me at the time and the music is very nice. As is the sound. Nothing here is as essential as say the Lester Young, or Basie or Ellington sets, I wouldn't pay a fortune for it. But if you love piano music it has some very enjoyable sessions.
  3. May be okay. At least it's not Brent, Bruce, Vince, etc. May have more Bob slide guitar than I'll want to hear. . . .
  4. I won't get seasick if you share them.
  5. Time to break out the stings. I smell smoke. . . . I heard if you deep fry a Twinkie and you eat it YOUR shelf life is 45 days.
  6. Maybe. Objects so far haven't worked that way with me. It's hard to find joy in the objects I have of my late wife. We're all different. Regardless, I don't want to continue to talk about my trials and tribulations. Pres had his, you have yours. I'm glad to hear the sound quality is really good on this new release and it's wonderful to have "new" Pres. Yes, Connie Kay was a real "burner" in his earliest recorded appearances. I remember first hearing him with a Miles group live and saying out loud "Is that really Connie Kay?"
  7. Mike's a really nice man, one of the nicest musicians I've ever met. I'll check this one out.
  8. Doesn't surprise me.
  9. I was lucky and unlucky to have jobs that required me to be extroverted. It was difficult for me, but at the same time very helpful. I've a more isolated life than ever now, and I'd welcome an extroverted job! Not for a while though. It really is true, if you're strongly an introvert being surrounded by people really can drain you and being off by yourself can recharge you. Fascinating process.
  10. I've tried Basie and Basieites on them before and they aren't that hip. Anyway, I'll get to it one of these mornings before I go off to their place, or evenings before I get to bed. I have about an hour of listening/watching time twice a day at my place and I've mostly been watching things from the DVR that my girlfriend also watches so we can talk to them on the phone. I'm sure the Pres is good and in part I think I'm subconsciously postponing the listening because it's new Pres and how many more times will there be new Pres?
  11. Yes, the third season is shaping up well too.
  12. Classical, pop swing, Jobim (they've long liked Jobim and I'm getting them to listen to a lot of Brazilian stuff, and they're liking it).
  13. I think they're pretty good. As I noted above, I always order the "little" hamburger or cheeseburger, the regular is two patties and I don't like that much meat on a burger. They always cook their meat well, and have tasty buns and toppings. And peanuts in the shell to eat while waiting!
  14. Interesting that there are conflicting opinions on the Daniels. I found it fascinating. Need to revisit it one of these days.
  15. I don't use headphones. . .used them too much in the past and don't want to take them up. I'm working on getting help so that I can have a few evenings and a day off a week.
  16. Thanks, I'm trying my friend, I've got a good grip going.
  17. No time for Pres? What a terrible thought. I've been enjoying my copy quite a bit. There is maybe nothing here as earth shattering as some of the broadcasts from the same year that we have from Savoy Ballroom (NYC) and the Argyle Lounge (Chicago). But Pres is in fine form and the CD sounds excellent. I am spending hardly any time at all on my own and/or at my place and the music I listen to is mainly what my parents want to hear (I'm at their place every day from breakfast to bedtime for them).
  18. I like the Porter and (although some don't) the Daniels.
  19. Here in my new home, Five Guys is the best chain option. I order the little one, and I like that they offer grilled onions, grilled mushrooms. . .and jalapenos. I can even sometimes get them to grill the jalapenos.
  20. Right on Larry.
  21. I got this from Amazon but have been unable to listen to it yet, I don't have much time for this sort of thing these days unfortunately. Hopefully it's okay.
  22. That's a good price! That set sounds really good, better than the previous versions of the material imo.
