  1. Okay. That was a mistake.
  2. How did this happen? Somehow he was helped as . . . there are precautions for this sort of thing. Well, at least this may shorten the years we may be subjected to this story over and over on Cleveland news.
  3. And the Japanese EMI cds sound much better than the two earlier Fresh Sounds cds.
  4. s, as I mention upstream here, I have a broken one too (think the power switch went out) and haven't inquired about repair, went another route but found the isolation transformers I was using (Tripplite) were adding noise into my system sometimes. So I eventually bought a B Stock PS Audio Power Plant Premier for twice what your repair was quoted (and half the usual price). Haven't seen one at that price since. Love it. But. . . I loved the P300 when it was working and I can't see any other power regenerator around for 500 dollars. May just have mine repaired for that price one of these days for my second system.

  7. It's almost always been that way, even in the early days of EPs and LPs, the stuff that sold most gets reissued. And in this new climate where the labels are cautious about sales, putting out something "safe" is far easier to get up and down the channels than something obscure or that did not sell a lot in an earlier incarnation. Many of us are jaded collectors who are now wanting the obscure and neglected, but I will say I do appreciate many of these sets for bringing whole bodies of work together under one cover and one mastering (often). And for new jazz fans these sets can be great, they can get a lot of material quickly and easily and with little duplication of what they may have started with.
  8. Dorn released a lot of Left Bank stuff on 32jazz. Overall, I found it very disappointing. I long for a CD release of Gary Bartz's "Home" on Milestone. That was a hot Left Bank recording. True but no unreleased Hank or Lee or any of the other shows that are listed in the annals that get everybody excited. I actually enjoy those that Dorn released. Wish there had been more. . .wish we still had Joel to kick around.
  9. Works fine for me. NO forum yet however.
  10. A good player. I'm sure DEEP is sad, he knew him quite well. RIP Jack!
  11. I see both sides of the story myself, and fall on the side Flurin delineated. I have only begun collecting classical and so the sets don't create duplication for me, and I really enjoy the well-done artists' sets, they are a fascinating cornucopia of listening for me.
  12. There's a thread on this in the forums. (You knew someone was going to say that!) I don't remember off the top of my head but a search will probably provide the answer. I haven't bought this set (at least yet) as I have many of the separate cds.
  13. Well said Flurin.
  14. Well, it sounds best than I've heard this before. Which doesn't mean it's an audiophile release.
  15. Hope it was a great one. Many happy returns!
  16. You'd dig the Waldron.
  17. I'm looking forward to the next boxes. I've a pretty flexible system with a treble cut that's outside the signal path that allows me to enjoy a lot of recordings that I guess others don't. Listened to parts of the Dixon and Waldron and WSQ boxes this week. Great stuff.
  18. I got that season of Damages in . . . will start it soon. I've been watching the Sons of Arthritis. I'm a charter member. I've been watching the Sons of Arthritis. I'm a charter member. I've been watching the Sons of Arthritis. I'm a charter member. My friend David and I were going to start a Sons of Malarchy chapter. Then he got in an accident, and it wasn't funny.
  19. Listened to the Mingus today and have to say it sounds really good.
  20. Sons of Anarchy, Season Five Blu-ray. This was intense on broadcast. Enjoying the discs as much.
  21. I checked and this is the only LP of hers I still own.
  22. Pre-ordered.
  23. Many many more happy returns!
  24. Have a great one Mr. M and many many more happy ones!
